why not? It's not unheard of to do. I'd go all out and send invitations complete with RSVP and a small menu.

What a fine idea! An engagement is a wonderful reason to celebrate.

See, used to be that a marriage was more a merger of two estates. It was more a business agreement than something symbolizing love.

But now-a-days, it's a fine idea for the engaged couple to host cocktails and tidbits at the local "wherever" to celebrate a happy union!

I don't see a problem with it. if no one else will, why not you. And that way you can have the party exactly the way you want it because you planned it.

Sure, we did.

We sent out evites to our friends and had a party. Those that couldn't make it, we're hosting a dinner for them.

We did, if you dont want to spend a fortune on it tell your guests its pot luck in ways of food, (everyone brings a plate)
