Let me put it this way: I've both known and known of people who are regular churchgoers who have the morals of a gnat, mean spirited, nasty, obnoxious, and hateful.. and I've known many people who are not the least bit religious who are wonderful, happy, and fufilled people. And Vice Versa.

I don't think it matters one iota whether or not one is religous. There are all kinds of people in every group.

Besides, morality is subjective. What may be moral to one may not be to another, and no one has the right to judge others. My definition of moral is a good decent person who is kind and giving to others and who does not try to take away the rights of others.

I firmly believe religion does not play a role in how decent a person turns out.

CANNABALS consider it moral to kill and eat other people.

THIS IS TRUE ONLY up to a point. Many people who are not religious in any way, shape, or form are what one can call "good, moral" people.

Many so called Christians are far from it.

HOWEVER, many who once were what one could term as very bad or immoral people have engaged in a study of the Bible, applied what they have learned and turned their lives around, becoming good, moral people. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

I agree. Most religions teach people to be good moral people. So if they are truly following the tenants of their religion, then they should be a good person. But not everyone does what their religion teaches- look at the very unfortunate Catholic Church scandal a few years ago.

But you don't have to have religion to be a decent person. I have met people who aren't religious and they are good people. Like you have have also met people who claim they are religious, even in my own faith- who I would never trust.

But religion and faith can guide a person, give them purpose and a reason to remain a good person. It is the reason I remain moral- I have a guide and a support system. Without that it would be tough to remain moral in this world.

But what if your motive for your morality is selfishness? Does it remain good? Maybe to others, but NOT TO GOD. I say this at least 5 times a day. If you are unregenerate, all the old ladies you help across the street, all the diseases you may cure, all the starving kids you may feed is doing nothing more than storing up the wrath of God. That's what the Bible says, that's what I believe. To you, morality is subjective. Yay for you. Where does initial morality come from? Is it learned? Is it a general philanthropy we have as creatures? Think about these things before making the jump into ludicrous speed.(Spaceballs ruled)

I agree that religion doesn't necessarily make someone moral, but I disagree with you when you say morality is subjective.

Morality is objective, it's fixed and determinable. The way it's interpreted has become subjective, and that's not a good thing.

You said, "We have no right to judge others"

What law restricts our judgment calls? lol

Judgement is a part of wisdom, if you are good at it, you can be a Judge, or perhaps a Supreme Court Justice.

If you are bad at it, you can run a Psychic hotline.

That's the ace they use to convince you their way is the only way to salvation. Its kinda like forcing you to become religious in order to be saved and to establish a title to prove your moral.

OK..your god and your perfect. you know it all. and jesus blood and resurection is worthless...so your own blood or self righteous is enough to earn the rights to enter into heaven? it is not works is how we enter heaven..it is FAITH that JESUS bloody cross and resurrection is ENOUGH to pay for your sins..and forefathers sins too. other side is this. everybody is a child..think like one..act like one..on judgement day..GOD ask YOU..not so and so..or yur church or non church friends..GOD ask YOU..what did you do with the gift of LIFE i gave you...are you a sheep that follow GOD..or a goat that rebel against GOD? don't let weak christian be your EXCUSE of not honoring GOD's Son yourself.

The Bible says that there isn't a single "good" person on Earth; we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It also says that there is no amount of "good" that anyone can do to get into Heaven (lest any man should boast). We cannot rely on our good works to get us into Heaven. Only the Blood of Christ can wash us of our sins and make us fit for the Kingdom of Heaven. It is not your works, but your relationship to Christ that will get you into Heaven.

I agree with you in Principal,

But, in my case, becoming a Catholic has made me a better Husband, Father, Boss, Employee, Citizen, and Person.

So, in my case, it has been a very good thing.

Good Luck!
