prescribed me amoxicillin. I got a cold over the weekend and he prescribed me some other pill but it is not completely safe for pregnancy so I am just sticking with the amoxicillin for a couple more days. My question is-My throat no longer hurts but the white spotson my tonsils are not going away? What does this mean and is it serious?

The white spots mean that there is still infection present. Finish the amox. "the_only" is quite correct that if you discontinue the antibiotic now, the infection could come back stronger than ever and be resistant to amoxicillin. Never stop an antibiotic no matter how good you feel. Finish your precription. If you still see the patches, report this to your doctor. Your doctor will advise you as to what you should do.

be sure to finish all the amoxicillin even if you do feel better.
those "white spots" will come back if you do not, and they will be resistant to amoxicillin.

take your medication for the entire course, it'll take awhile for everything to clear up. even if you feel better it doesn't mean the infection is gone. don't worry unless you have a relapse of pain and fever. the spots might take a couple weeks to clear
