Here is a serious question i have for all of you NON supporters..

1st off i am not saying i support the war because our president tells us to but i support our war for one reason!!!!!

If we don't support our troops by re-assuring them they are doing the right thing they get emotionally drained while there in combat protecting us!

FOR EXAMPLE. My room mate served 18 months in S.Korea and then was transfered to IRAQ for 18 months with no leave time inbetween. He is now home and this is how he feels. He constantly hears the ignorance of american citizens bashing the Bush admin/the war. Saying were wrong, what were doing is wrong and so on.. Well how would that make you feel? These men and wemon are risking there lives daily over there and there are still people over here talking **** about them. We should support our troops 100%. Not just say oh we care about them thats why we want them out, well the fact of the matter is something is being accomplished, so why be negative?

Because the people who claim to 'support the troops but oppose the war' support neither.

If they supported the troops they would be listening to us.

To "ME", your commander is an idiot. That was one of the worst things he could tell his unit, despite any personal beliefs he held/holds. Great morale buster.

To answer the question though, having returned after 24 months in 3 countries where hazardous duty pay was authorized, including Afghanistan and Iraq, I find the American people incredibly ungrateful. It's not that they're not personally rewarding me but that they don't take the time to understand why this is important. The arguments for pulling out have only emotion as basis and take no consideration of national interest.

The American people complain that we should be doing more for our own, here. Those in most impoverished conditions here, live a better life than the top 3% in 90% of the world. More importantly, our sacrifice (those who have served) IS doing something to make their lives better, or should I say to keep it as the best in the world. It is helping to prevent another major terrorist attack here, along with the efforts of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Yes, the American people are ungrateful. The unity following 9/11 has been destroyed by the media and politicians bent on gaining office. And yes, those who return feel it.

Don't just say you support the troops, but DO IT!

To Dylan: You know, you say that you ONLY support the infantry MOS's and troops that step foot outside of the wire. Let me ask you this. Without the troops that stay inside the wire, how the hell are you suppost to get your supplies? Also next time you want to go home on some R&R in the middle of your tour, I hope you don't get that nice Space Avalible flight back to the states just for what you said. Without us, you would have no mail, food, or ammunition to fight. And also, I busted my *** out there too, working everyday with minimul sleep, without stepping foot outside of the wire. So next time you open your mouth and say something stupid like that, think about what you are saying!

When I was deployed last year, on a Marine base in Iraq, the marines there got R&R.

I plenty of bumper stickers that say "I support our Troops, but not the war." I'm sorry your friend feels so sensitive, but most of the criticism is the war itself, not the soldiers. There are several organizations out there that do not contribute to the political discussion. Their sole purpose is to show support for the troops.

Also, the media rarely reports the positive impact that our soldiers are having over there. I tell everyone I know about the soldier (in my husband's unit) whose wife is gathering school supplies for the kids near his FOB.

Please tell your friend that support for the troops are there. And, we know it is not his job to question the validity of being deployed. That is a decision for the Commander in Chief with support of the legislature.

I only support infantry and MOS's that go to Iraq and actually step foot out of the bases and into the streets of Iraq. The rest deployed in iraq that never step foot out of the bases stop crying and complaining. We are all volunteers in the armed forces. And if you dont like it then why did you join in the first place. Many infantry troops dream of going to combat and acting like badasses but once they see combat them and their families start complaing. suck it the **** up. Hey ash marines dont get R&R bud.

I was in the Army until very recently and my husband is currently deployed to Iraq, with many other people we know...we're all in agreement that Bush is an idiot and "we shouldn't be in the middle of a civil war we can do nothing about." (Quote from my commander.) My husband is there purely because it was where he was told to go...the same goes for pretty much everyone else I know that's there now. It doesn't make them feel bad and unsupported, they know THEY are...just Bush and this idiotic war aren't.

EDIT: To whatever your name is that critizised my commander...it was a private discussion between the two of us, it was NOT said to our unit.
