It's not, but I just want to see if anyone actually has the balls to say that it is.

Some people obviously feel this way, since you don't see many states passing laws allowing for it.

I asked a Southern Baptist if smoking pot was worse than using the Lords name in vain and they said no.
Then I ask them if you should be put in jail for using the Lords name in vain and they said no.
Puts them in a tight spot.

This has long been an illegal substance because the government has not found a way to "tax" it - until now. I live in California, where it is now legal for medicinal purposes. However, anyone can obtain a license to carry and use this for personal needs. Many growers have pollinated this with a variety of substances to make it a hybrid of different effects here. It is progressively becoming the 'legal' drug of choice. One must not take liberties to assume that it is all the same. One good inhale can enable you to be pain-free and at the same time, knock you on your derriere and send you spinning into oblivion for several hours... I indulge a little here and there. However it is wise to remember; "Everything in moderation..."

I'm a Christian IN CANADA, and I would have to say NO, because it's a drug ALONE is not a valid reason why NOT to use it for medicinal purposes. There's plenty of other widely accepted DRUGS- Oxycodone (OxyContin) Propoxyphene (Darvon) Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) Diazepam (Valium) and I could go on, that are readily handed out to people, that effects are FAR WORSE and more mind altering than marijuana, resulting in a dependency, and the inability to function without it. I believe marijuana is a reasonable alternative to stronger, more addictive drugs, that allows people to lead a normal existence with less pain.

It isnt the morality issue that REALLY keeps pot off the market- it's the profit margin. The chemicals we buy as perscriptions are on average a penny a pill to produce. They then sell them at a 1000% markup, sometimes more. This gives them a HUGE profit margin. Pot is cheap to produce, and since it's naturally occuring, costs much less to distribute and sell. They HAVE to keep the prices reasonable, or people will just bypass chemical companies and grow it themselves. Morality never comes into play, though maybe it should... You know they say there's no money in a cure...

I think it's ridiculous that it can't be used for medicinal purposes. Now they do have pills made from medically grown marijuana but they don't work as well as the unprocessed herb. My dad has cancer and they gave him some of the pills. His hospice nurse said research showed the pills weren't as good.

It's good for mentrual cramps too or so I've been told by a British friend.

I don't find using marijuana immoral period. Unless it is preventing you from functioning in your everyday life, in which case it's not the drug use which is immoral, but the resulting behavior. However, most people who use medicinal marijuana have a hard enough time functioning. Marijuana actually helps these people function -- it must be a miracle!

I see nothing wrong with marijuana at all. I used to smoke it, and the so called ils that people talk about, never happened to me.
If it is good medicaly, I am in faror for it's use.

I don't think so at all. I honestly think the federal government is wasting their time and our tax money by not legalizing marijuana for every day use. The fact is, it's less deadly than cigarettes and causes less fatal accidents than alcohol, yet both are legal. Imagine how fast the federal deficit would vanish if we legalized marijuana and taxed it, the way we do cigarettes!

No. I am a Christian and I think there is a Biblical basis for using it medicinally. Paul told Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach. Wine can make a person drunk but it can be beneficial to your heart, etc...

Marijuana can be abused but it can really help people with nausea and appetite. So, as long as it is used for medicine and not just for a buzz it is OK.

Funny enough the notion of self medicating with marijuana from the standpoint of it's inherent Amoral status is what first drew me into the unholy and unwholesome act of breathing it's sweet intoxicating drafts. Ah the hedonistic indulgence, psychic's therapy in a bag, marvelous. Such seductive memories of days gone by into the ether! What visions, what romances, what power! Thanks old Bean, for tweaking that part of my cerebral experience!

If used as a medication, legitimately, I see nothing wrong. There are many drugs on the market that might be abused. It's interesting that you would choose this particular drug in this question, though.
And perhaps the real issue is one of controlled substances, not pot.
And please, a little respect with the language, if you don't mind. The word "nerve" would have worked just fine.
