If Adam and Eve had no concept of good or evil before eating from the tree of knowledge, how can they be held responsible
for there actions? Even if God told them it was forbidden they could not comprehend that it is wrong to disobey God
It's like telling a newborn not to cry

Very good question, I like it.

However, I have no answer for you. You've stumped me.

Like you said. Up until that point, they had no idea that they were disobeying, as they had no concept of good or evil.

That is why we prefer to call it a transgression as opposed to a sin. They were told not to eat it and given a consequence if they did. Therefore, they knew that they were going against God's wishes. However, they did not have a full understanding of the consequences. They also knew that they were commanded to multiply and replenish the earth but they did not know until after they partook of the forbidden fruit that they could not multiply until after partaking. The partaking brought on mortality. The death was their immediate expulsion from the garden, out of God's presence, and the transition to mortality, from which they would eventually die within one of God's days. They were then able to fulfill the reproductive commandment. God gave no consequence for disobedience of reproduction because He knew that they would eventually obey that one. In other words, partaking of the forbidden fruit was actually built into the plan. So they disobeyed but they did not sin because their disobedience was forseen, anticipated and even expected. They could not fulfill both commandments eternally. In the garden, they were not fully mortal. They would have lived indefinitely in their state of innocences until they partook of the forbidden fruit. Then they began to choose for themselves between right and wrong, they became mortal and were able to reproduce.
We believe that man will be punished for his own sins and not for Adam's transgression.

Adam and Eve were not newborns. They were given commands by God. They knew to obey, because they did, however the Bible does not say for how long they had, but nevertheless, they DID obey. It was when they took the word of someone they did not know as truth above God that set their sin in motion.

Your logic is poor at human standard, and your knowledge of the Bible is as good as a newborns.

Babies have to first learn the language being spoken to them. After they do comprehend the language, it's their choice or personal decision to do or not do what is asked of them. Thjis wasn't Adam & Eve's problem. They had a choice...to obey or not obey God's instructions. For every choice there is a consequence...
When you disobeyed your parents in the past it was always your choice.

There was one rule: DO NOT EAT!!!!
The temptation was to eat and become a god.
If they understood enough to follow the temptation they understood enough to follow the command.
Look closer at the convincing arguments made by the serpent and see if they do not apply in this forum every day.
Edit:
agaliarept....they died.....they learned the difference between good and evil.....who lied?
How well versed are you in the ways of the deceiver?
Do you assert that in the absence of evil there can be no good?

You forget the biggest part of this story- the SERPENT! Satan has deceived so many since then, in wandering from God's words, and going off on their own path, doing what "they" want instead of obeying God. The serpent tempted Eve, and she fell into that temptation. Just as we are all tempted today and at times fall into temptation, this has happened from the beginning because of satan, for he is the father of lies! (John 8)

I dont know.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

The story of Adam and Eve is full of holes and assumptions which are to be expected since it is a story. I think instead of responsible you meant accountable. If so then, no, they cannot be held accountable. Here is what god told Adam.

"You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

From this statement you can ascertain that god was informing Adam of the consequence of eating from the tree. It is implying that the fruit is poisonous and that consumption equals death. It is also implied here that Adam is already mortal and expected to eat from other trees for it is part of life. Notice how there is no mention that god will do anything to Adam if he eats from the tree.

The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman,'
for she was taken out of man."

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Here it is stated that Adam and Eve will have children that will eventually leave, get married and have children. Next to eating, this is a great implication that Adam and Eve are mortal but I am getting away from your original question.

The last line states they felt no shame for being naked. Why do you think the writer would mention they were naked and, as an after thought, tack on that they felt no shame? It’s pretty obvious that this one liner was written to show that, unlike a fat guy wearing a speedo, Adam and Eve had no concept that being naked was wrong. I guess god didn’t think it was wrong either. Either that or maybe he was into that kind of thing.

Now we know that Adam and Eve didn’t know right from wrong; but what about good from evil? What’s the point of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil if you already have knowledge of good and evil? That’s right. Adam and Eve didn’t know the difference between good and evil which is prevalent in the following passage.

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Lets sum up what we know:
Adam and Eve were informed by god that eating fruit from the forbidden tree would kill them. Later, the serpent told Eve that god knows that the fruit gives you the knowledge of good and evil. Eve takes a bite of the apple assuming that the serpent was correct and that god misinformed her. Since the serpent was telling the truth, Adam and Eve learned a ridiculous concept that being naked is wrong. God got mad because the seemingly good-willed serpent truthfully informed Adam and Eve that god lied to them. God, not being able to take the fact that he was found out, took out his rage on Adam and Eve and their descendents for eternity. God even laid out some of his rage on the snake who was the only one that didn’t do anything except tell the truth. Of course, god only cursed the snake to crawl on its belly and eat dust which is what the snake did anyways.

So now we know that, according to this story, god wants it his way whether it is right or wrong. We also know that Adam and Eve were two dumb kids who were severely punished by their father for not being oblivious to good and evil. They should definitely not be held accountable by god.

I am glad to see that people like you bring up such obvious discrepancies in these writings. Too bad commenter’s like Aloha have to result to insults because they are too close minded in their beliefs to sift through the facts; especially obvious ones like how god was NOT telling the truth.

Sin is simply the transgression of HIS law. He commanded them not to eat of the tree and they did. Adam and Eve were not made dumb or without wisdom they did understand instruction.

A newborn does not understand you when you say, "Do not cry."

Adam and Eve on the other hand did undertand God when He told them what they could and could not eat.
