Actually it appears you are on the defensive.

Atheists have no need to be defensive-like Catholics--they have nothing to defend. Its the born-againers that are defensive.

Actually, I don't believe the universe is eternal. It's only been in existence for about 15 billion years or so. Just because time and space had a beginning doesn't prove that your god exists. There's actually some pretty intriguing theories as to what caused the big bang.

For example. Many universes may exist, but only some of them would allow creature such as ourselves to emerge. The seemingly ‘designed’ features then are just a result of evolution on the grandest of scales. Perhaps our big bang wasn’t the only one. This speculation dramatically enlarges our concept of reality. The entire history of our universe becomes just an episode, a single facet, of the infinite multiverse. Some universes might resemble ours and most others would be “stillborn”. They would collapse after a brief existence, or the laws governing them would not permit complex consequences.

You lack of logic and plain common sense is mind blowing. Why do Atheists need a defense, we have no belief to defend.

Atheists DO NOT believe in fairies, ghosts, gods, spirits on any other supernatural or paranormal things. That does not mean that we have replaced these non existence things with anything else, for what purpose?

Really, I wonder sometimes how christians have the ability to change a light bulb...

No, one of them is not eternal, since the current God was invented about 5 or 6 thousand years ago. Since he did not exist at one point, he cannot be eternal. Unlike God, the universe is indisputable. Also, the universe is real.

I didn't flip a coin.
I always have believed in one more God than an atheist does.
I don't try to defend my Christianity. I just accept that not everyone believes as I do, sadly.
The way I see it, it's basically their problem, not mine, since I have offered them the same invitation that I accepted.
Now, if someone were to ASK me, "Hey, Deborah, why do you believe as you do," then I would take all the time with them they wanted to take, trying to explain to them why I believe as I do.
Seeing as they have all the same information I have, but chose to say in their hearts that there is no God, there is little else I can do for them

;-D

I'm not an atheist, but you may be mistaken here.

Atheists don't maintain any 'defense' at all. Atheism is the refusal to accept religious explanations for ANYTHING, so there isn't any 'choosing' of ideas or beliefs.

Now to my thinking:

There is no proof that anything is eternal--or not eternal. Can you work with that?

And Christians just flipped a coin and said "We choose God"? I think not. That's not the way it works on either side.

Furthemore, your question implies that the universe is not eternal...which makes your point an igorant statement in and of itself.

Atheists need no defense. If you don't believe something exists you don't need to defend that. You have it backwards. It is those who suppose that a thing exists who must defend their supposition. People don't go around defending the position that there are no giant purple frogs living underground that supply all the water in the world, now do they? On the other hand if you are one of the people who believe in these frogs, you're going to have to make your case.

Totally wrong! Nothing is eternal. The universe is 14.7 billion years old and God doesn't exist (except on the printed page and within the subjective experience of believers).

Hmmm...well I don't know.

However I see alot of answers saying "science provides..."

Its in my opinion that is rather arrogant of them too insist there is no god and science proves it....

First of All science hasn't proved no existance of God, They just haven't proved his existance.

The Arrogant part is too assume...That science never will.

Just because science is unsuccessful today, doesn't mean 100 years from now they won't find proof.

So...An Atheist claims logic, realism, and science...but don't understand that science today is not the only science and that 100 years from now scientist will not be out of work...

No, we didn't flip a coin. That would be like saying, there are invisible flying pink unicorns or there aren't and we just flipped a coin and decided there aren't.

Such decisions can be based on evidence, you know.
