see if the town has a web site. Look for jobs online in that area. Do all the research you can online. Get a sunday paper mailed to you from there.

Depending upon the timeframe, you might start by subscribing to the newspaper from that area. Usually, you can subscribe to the Sunday paper. That's what I did before deciding about relocating. That gives you a good "feel" for the area, job possibilities, housing costs, and it gives you an idea of the kinds of events you can look forward to.

There are several websites that can help:

www.realtor.com for homes.
www.monster.com for jobs
yahoo hot jobs also, but I have found that Monster has the most listings.

Any possibility of transferring with current job?

You may even want to get a realtor in the area that you are looking. They have knowledge of how each neighborhood is doing and what schools are that best.
