I dont have a job, so all our expenses are from my husbands' income. Is there anything I can do for him that wont cost me any money? I feel like if I put a gift on my CC, he's gonna pay for it anyways...Is that ok? or any ideas on what else to do..
Thanks!

First of all you do have a job, although I dont agree with the salary for SAHM that the salary.com website gives (because its for 92 hours, and most fathers and parent who work outside the home, dont get paid for the other 52 hours they do), at least consider your income to be the cost that daycare would be. That said.

What about a great meal. I would assume you are buying groceries anyway. Or get friends together to do a Fathers Day potluck, and let the dads relax while you guys do activities with the kids.

Buntis,

Your husband knows that you don't have a job doesn't he? LOL. If your income comes from him then it is absolutely ok for you to put it on the Credit card. If you get him something nice he won't care anyway. BTW now that your married your money is his money and vica versa.

However if you feel uncomfortable about buying him something with his own money. Here are a few things that you can do that works great!!!

Make him a redeemable coupon book (let the kids help) with things in it like a free car wash, back rub, dinner of his choice, a movie night, anything that you think he will appreciate.

Fathers (daddy) always like anything from the kids. Plan an early wake up for dad on fathers day. Let the kids help with breakfast, have them write an agenda for the day of what they want to do with dad. (it is fathers dad afterall). And deliver it to him with breakfast in bed.

Do a strip tease for him at the end of the night when the kids go to bed.

There are a million idea's to do for Dad for free. Just be creative.

I personally just think a nice breakfast is fine. My husband and I through the years (our kids are 6 and 8) have money some years and some we don't. So we always make a full breakfast of the favorite foods and dinner usually too.
You didn't say how old your kids are, but last year we were busted so for my husband and my dad, the kids and I set up a restaurant, made menu's out of construction paper, and set the table and the kids took the orders and I cooked it, the kids loved it and so did my husband and my dad liked it so much he took a menu home. My daughters are very dramatic so they wore towels on their arms etc. it was a lot of fun.
I firmly believe that birthdays (except for kids), father day etc. is just about being thought of, being extra considerate on that day is enough. If you have money great, if not no big deal. We have had to take that approach to our anniversary before too depending on money.

Both those suggestions are great ones.

You don't have to spend money to make a nice gift or to let someone know how much they are loved and appreciated.

But Men are just ...big kids...lol...so If you did go and buy him something he's been wanting...I'm sure he'd like it too even if he's paying for it at the end of the month. You guys are a family...so it doesn't matter where the money comes from, it belongs to all of you.

For 16 years of father's day my children (3) have never spent money on a gift. I have always told them the best gift is from the heart and as such I have a wonderful collection of pictures, Popsicle stick art, and memories. The best gift of all a morning of me and the kids cuddling in bed watching cartoons and talking.

It's okay if you do it with your cc because the thought is coming from you... the choice of gift will be from your heart and may be something unique that he'll cherish. Also, you can just be extra nice to him on that day and plan something special with his input (it doesn't have to be a surprise)... and make sure to reserve a romantic night to cap it off.
Have fun.
P.S. if you are buntis, then good luck with that too, take care.

If he has a child at age to color the best gift any parent mommy or daddy can get is a page where the child has colored a pic put it in an inexpensive frame and voila he has a new piece of art to hang at the office or at home

holidays like fathers day and mothers day are not about or should not be about the gifts..it is a day to set aside to show your appriciation for everything they do for us...so maybe allow him free time to do what he wants to like play golf with the guys or something or plan a fun family activity like a picnic in the park..make some great cards and breakfast in bed...its not the cost of the gift but the appriciation of the people giving it..

On my ex's first father's day, we had no money. I wrote him a poem. I spent $3 on a cheap frame, a bottle of blue paint, and a piece of pretty stationary paper. I printed the poem on the stationary, painted the frame blue, wrapped the frame, and hung it on the wall wrapped so he'd see it when he got up.

This would also work with handprints of the kids, a photograph, a love letter, his most prized baseball card.... etc.

Hope that gives you some good ideas!

I am a dad and I found for mother's day, My wife liked having the kids do a craft or pictures or something the kids did for her with my guidance. Unfortunately we are now separated. I have custody of the kids and I still had the kids do a little something for her on mother's day even though she is not a good mother.
