I am curious about the total number of people that have never been exposed to Christianity and what the Christian faith says about these souls, are they saved or condemed?

Dear Bruce,

I could not estimate the number of people that have never been exposed to "christianity" or the Bible. Even today, there are people who do not have a copy of the Bible translated into their own language.

The Bible teaches us that these individuals could not have been saved (redeemed) because they never heard the word of God (Bible). In Romans 10:17 the Bible states, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The word FAITH is a synonym for Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:11). So then Christ cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Unless a person is under the "hearing" of the word of God, there is no possibility for salvation.

I think you can understand the urgent need to get the Bible into all the world, in all the different languages.

I suggest trying the "flaming meteorite" test. In Acts 10, Cornelius, a Gentile (someone who is not Jewish, and he isn't in this case a Christian either), is told by an angel to send for Peter, because his good works have merited God's attention and he has been chosen to hear the good news. Peter sets off to tell him the Gospel. Now imagine that as he is still en route, a flaming meteorite appears in the sky, and crashes into Cornelius' house, killing all inside. If you think that God would show mercy on Cornelius and accept him, you are what is known as an "inclusivist". If you think he went straight to hell, you are an "exclusivist".

Trillions +

The Bible shows that Christ started preaching to the spirits of the dead.

So I suggest that the trillions of people who never heard of Christ, Peter, Moses, or even the Bible; have a chance to accept or reject the gospel of Jesus Christ. Also these people will be Judged by their actions while alive -- given what they understood about goodness.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead

Romans 1 explains that everyone can know about God through is creation, that He is clearly seen. So no one has the excuse of saying that they did not know about God. A person takes what they know about God and either seek to learn more about Him or rejects Him. If a person is seeking God, God will make sure that person can find the truth. Then it is up to that person to accept or reject that truth.
