I am taking a course Sexual Health and I am supposed to write a paper on why people watch porn. I am sooo stuck! I have even gone as far as visiting porn sites just to figure it out on a personal level, but I really can’t seem to get it still? I know for sure that people get turned on by it, question is how does it arouse the desire to watch more of it? To even go as far as pay for it? Is it addictive? Is it wrong? And a billion other questions! My paper is due in 2 weeks, HELP!

I believe that most viewrs of porn are men, as for men, the 'relief' they feel after masturbating is great. Men often feel tense when they haven't ejaculated in a couple of days, which drives them to seek an orgasm. Men react to visual stimulation, which is why they seek out pornography in the form of images and videos. The reason that men pay for pornography is that the 'pay for' pornography is of much higher quality, and of much longer length. Most free videos are less than 30 seconds long, and very low quality. In short, for men it is so much easier to sit on the computer and watch a few movies than to imagine a scenario.

You will find some interesting articles on male sexuality if you search for topics such as arousal. I'm sure you will be able to expand on the things I've mentioned above after searching online. I didn't want to go into too much detail or provide any links, as Yahoo! Answers is a family site and we have to keep things clean!

Another interesting talking points is 'is it wrong'. Perhaps you can research the different relgious viewpoints? A question like: "What does your religion teach about pornography" in the Religion and Spirituality will give you lots of different persepectives to write about.

Pornography can be addictive, a pornography addiction is the reason many people join Sex Addicts Anonymous.

Personally, I don't like watching porn alone it doesn't have much effect. However, when we do watch it I like just for a few mins just enough to get turned on. I like my man much more than any movie clip.
Porn appeals more to the male population simply because men are visual creatures. Some people learn from seeing some learn from doing. It's the same concept. Women need the feels and smells and touches. Whereas a man can c a some bare skin and mr meaty is wide awake. Sorry I'm not making my point very well. It also depends on the age group. Please consider this factor while writing your paper. Young teenage boys watch it for release (well all men do) but as experimentation. Then young adult males watch for something naughty and slightly taboo something they cant get from their gf's. whereas older men use it either bc the spice has gone out of their sex life or bc they havent a sex life any more and must release themselves somehow.

Wow -- I'd say you have to spend some part of the paper writing about your own opinion (e.g. sex is very compelling to human beings, human sexuality is very visual, etc.) and then maybe look up sex addiction?

Maybe some group on sex addiction can help you. See if you can interview a group leader or something. I bet they talk about porn addiction and what compels them to look at porn.

I know a person I would swear is addicted to porn, to the extent that he has chosen porn over at least two relationships. I couldn't tell you why -- porn holds no interest for me.

I think you should discuss the difference in response to porn between men and women. That would be pretty interesting. It's hard to research this on the internet without getting a bunch of hard-core sites coming up.

My best advice: look up a sex addiction group, interview a person working there and see what resources he or she points you toward. Good luck!

and p.s. I'm interested to know what you find if you are willing to report back.

I watch it long enough to get off - it's not like it's Academy Award material. It's no more addictive than other forms of sexual release. From a morality standpoint, some may find it objectionable, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I draw the line at perversions like S&M, B&D, etc, but I don't see anything wrong with material depicting people doing what comes naturally. And I'd sooner see more naked bodies on TV than all the violence shown these days.

My husband and I very sexual people. He encourages me to watch porn. I would watch it even if he didn't tell me it turned him on. I watch it not only to feel that rush, but it makes my imagination run wild. It makes me think of what I want to do to my husband after the baby goes to sleep. I am not addicted to porn, but I do like to watch it. I use it as creative inspiration. Some people use porn because they are lonely. I would rather watch a porn and holla at my friend B.O.B. (battery operated boyfriend) than to take a risk of a one night stand with someone who has god knows what....I wouldn't regret anything then.

Yes, it is addictive. But like anything else addictive, it is only addictive to people who are susceptible. It is no more wrong than having sex. If you are an adult, and you enjoy sex with your spouse, no problem at all. But if you are addicted to sex, and are having it with everyone you can, as often as you can, well, that is a problem!

Check out the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know" about how people become "chemically addicted" to emotions, and the things that cause those emotions.

take a poll on the net and use it as far as some of your report make some questions and see what answers ya get. I think it is addictive and it is not wrong as long as it is not effecting the people around you and you as a whole

My husband and I watch it because it improves our sex life. It turns us on and it makes us more intimate with each other. I think it is wrong only when you are watching it all the time and it interferes with your everyday life. And I dont trust online porn sites because they are full of spyware and viruses.
