I am not an organ donor but I have received a kidney from my mom. I am not someone that is going to tell everyone to do it but it is an amazing gift. Many people don't know what goes into giving someone a chance to live a better life. I know that when you do donate an organ that if by some slim of a chance something were to happen and you were to need a transplant for the organ you donated you would be moved to the top of the list. The doctors will make sure your body will be able to handle the procedures you are going to go through. It has been almost 4 years since my mom has donated her kidney and everything is going great. I was able to go back to school and I am working on a triple major in school, I was also able to do the one thing I have always wanted and that is have a child of my own. I am healthier and happy and I tell my mom thank you all the time. She did something that some people just aren't able to. If I could say anything to the people that are going to donate an organ it is this: You are heroes to us and our guardian angels and without you we would probally not be here today. Thank You

I have been an organ donor candidate since I was old enough to make the choice for myself. Donating your organs in the event of your untimely demise will not hurt you a bit, you'll be dead and have no need of them anymore. However, there are tens of thousands of people who could benefit greatly from your gift. You can help the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, the weak to become strong again. Not a bad trade off! Back in the day, the only person able to do all of these things was Jesus Christ. Don't ya' just love technology?!

Yes I am. If my organs can save a persons life that would be great. In fact I am thinking of changing my designation from organ donor to donating my body to medical science. I figure I don't need it, and I'd either get stuffed in a box and buried or burnt, and stuck in a box sitting on a mantle, and for what purpose.

Yes, I am an organ donor. I don't want my usable body parts to go to waste after I die. It might give me a sense of calm at the moment of death to know that someone out there will benefit from my donated organs. I want the rest of my cadaver to be used for medical science. Perhaps my dead body will be used to help cure AIDS or cancer.

At this present time I am not an organ donor. I have one problem with having it noted on my drivers license.

I am one of these oddballs that would want to designate who my organs would be donated to. The mere thought of knowing that they could be donated to a drunk driver who hit a child, and the child did not survive, but the drunk did and needs my kidney.....I don't think so.
The thought of that kills me.

I am not currently a donor. I want to be but there are certain parts of me I do not want donated. My family knows my wishes. And they know when to say it's enough pull my plug and donate this this and that. I can make a million different excuses why I didn't have it put on my driver's license. The truth is when I started driving and I was filling out the paperwork i thought about checking the box next to if i wanted to be a donor. and i kept envisioning it on my license. It scared the hell out of me. It made me relize I wasn't immortal. Having that in print in front of your face tells you that someday you will die. I probly wont ever have it put on my license.

Yes I am. I firmly believe in giving of yourself everything that you can. This belief applies to giving time and money to charity as well. I will not need my organs once I am gone but my eyes may give a blind man sight, my heart may give a child with a bad heart a chance to run, or a dying mother a chance to watch her children grow.

I also donate blood regularly, am on the bone morrow registry, and grow out my hair to donate to "locks of love" a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer and other diseases.

Yes, because when I am dead I will not be using the organs anymore, so why not give them to someone who desperately needs them. I think everyone should become organ donors, unless it is against their religious beliefs.

If I am going to die I don't need them anymore...if someone I loved needed a transplant then I would be grateful for someone else saving my loved ones life so I would want to do the same for someone else. I would also donate an organ to a loved one (like a kidney or bone marrow transplant) because it would just be the nice/right thing to do. I don't expect anyone to do it for me but it sure would be nice if I needed it...we should try to treat others as we wish to be treated...
