Your General Practitioner has alot of insight although when in doubt they will refer to a specialist . A GP can not know everything about every circumstance and it is up to them to get you the best care possible even if it means they have to send you elsewheres.

No, mines great...trust him explicitly. Any GP worth seeing will always admit to not knowing something and will either refer you to an MD who he feels does know, or research it and get back to you. Any physician who does not do this is a sure fire signal that you need to find another doc.

Sometimes the best kind of advice is "I don't know, but I'll find you someone who does..."
It shows that your GP knows his/her limits and isn't going to satisfy their own ego at your potential expense.
Thumbs up to your GP! =D

they can fix most common ailments like strep throats, flus, etc... but sure, if it's a complex problem, you're probably better served by a referral to a specialist.
