Our species has been so successful in spreading over the world and changing it, sometimes more to our liking, that it is difficult to see ourselves in relation to other forms of life, to see ourselves "in nature." We have made ourselves different and set ourselves apart from the rest of the natural world. Perhaps for that reason alone, among many others, it is useful and instructive to try to understand our origins and to reconstruct our relationship to other life on the planet.
Since the great task of classifying the world's life forms according to their anatomical similarities got well under way during the late 18th century, the affinities between humans and the great apes have been recognized and pondered. In the mid nineteenth century, Charles Darwin postulated that apes and humans had a common ancestor. Until recently, however, we classified the apes as very distant cousins of human beings.

The living great ape species include the gibbon; the orangutan; the gorrilla; the chimpanzee; the pigmy chimp or bonobo.

The pigmy chimp was only identified as a separate species in the 1930's.

More recently, genetic evidence from comparing our DNA with that of apes has led to new views of our degrees of relatedness. Asian apes--gibbons and orangutans--are, according to this line of evidence, not closely related to us or to the African apes. But human DNA is surprisingly similar to, and almost identical with, the DNA of chimps and gorillas; both ape species have 48 chromosomes, we have 46. Chimpanzees even share the same *** blood types with humans, and thus appear to be very close kin to us.

New discoveries continually force us to re-examine our origins, and to search for clues about our own nature, and what we share with other forms of life.

If you deny any of this to be true, please offer your conclusive proof otherwise..

I know it's very hard to see, but the question is at the top of the page..!!

Denial people..!!
All I see is avoidance and denial.

There above are the facts, so deduce from them what you will, but don't deny they are real, or claim they are not true, because you will only look like an ill informed and brainwashed fool..!!

"Perhaps for that reason alone, among many others..."
You do realize that "alone" and "among many others" is contradictory, don't you?

"it is useful and instructive to try to understand our origins and to reconstruct our relationship to other life on the planet."
If you assume there's a relationship to reconstruct and then try to prove that such a relationship exists, that's what is known as a circular argument.

"Since the great task of classifying the world's life forms according to their anatomical similarities...."
Assumption and circular argument #2: that anatomical similarities reflect common ancestry.

"But human DNA is surprisingly similar to, and almost identical with, the DNA of chimps and gorillas; both ape species have 48 chromosomes, we have 46."
Yes, but where is the proof that this similarity proves a common ancestor existed between chimps, gorillas, and humans?

This is why I disagree:
Gimme a sec and I am going to type it out...

Ok They say that the explaination about "different" races in Evolution is because we adapt too our surroundings...

Now I am not scientist, But I am a person and I do see what happens right before my own eyes.
I am of Irish decent, I have very light skin, so does my family. when I was a baby I moved to Florida, Right on the Gulf Of Mexico...I grew up at the beach, I spent everyday in the sun...Did my skin adapt to it's surroundings? Nope. I am still 24 years later very light skinned, and easily burned...

So..When you talk about evolution..you see that only "certain" species has evolved...The Ape and Gorilla..were around during the times of Evolution and too say that their familes didn't travel, Its absurd.

So why didn't they evolve? whats makes Humans so different...

Thats the question that Scientist either can not answer or completely ignore.

If we were "Cousin's" Of the Ape...Why such a big change in us?

It upsets me a makes me feel like Scientist are full of it, Because the answers that would make it fact, are directly ignored and pushed over...

That means..something...is being hidden...What is it?

Christians know all of this, and more. We know, for instance, that it is not humans who have made our species, as you say, so successful. It is that God gave man dominion over the animal kingdom. We know that we were different from the very beginning, in that God gave us the ability to reason. It is God who made us "different' and set us apart from the "natural world".
Having said that, do you understand why so many Christians find the theory of evolution repugnant?
Christians know that God created all that exists. What we do not know is how He did it. Science is struggling to bring us those answers, but I think scientists have gotten sort of stuck defending a theory that might need updating.
I think both scientists and creationists might be a bit too emotional...perhaps if they could stop seeing the other POV as a personal attack, we might get on a bit better.

Yes, I don't think you are really asking a question. We have only changed and adapted to our environments, as God created us to. When I lived up North, I tolerated the cold weather better because my blood was thicker. The longer I live in the south, the thinner my blood gets, the less I am able to stand cold weather.

Charles Darwin, later in his life, admitted that his theory was flawed, and even wrong, and that we are only considered relatives of apes because of physical similarities. My Bible says that humans were created with dominion over all other animals.

Tell me why monkeys, apes, chimpazees, and gorillas don't still turn into humans. How come we don't have an ignorant group of humans or a brilliant chimpazee that can speak instead of sign. Come on if evolution in the extreme sense you talk was real it still exist today. I do believe our world is changing and somethings do change but not in the drastic sense of darwin theory. lol

I am Christian and I know that we evolve or more accurately adapt to our environment. Evolution is quite apparent on the micro scale, but science still is not able to find the "missing link" that proves evolution on a macro scale. All scientist believe their theories are right until someone else proves them wrong so why does it matter to you if I don't believe all life on the planet evolved from a puddle of goo?

they are no longer Jews as a results of fact Jew's don't think the messiah has come yet. they don't have faith Jesus so believing in Jesus and asserting your Jewish of course contradicts one yet another.... that's unhappy that there are those Evangelist Christians that decision themselves "Jews". end this custom now, your disgracing the two Judaism and Christianity.

Do we know what? That we didn't come from apes? I already knew I didn't. I see some humans that I have my doubts about.

Christians who are open to information from the sciences should know this. Unfortunately many who call themselves Christians have such a poor understanding of science and of the Bible that it is appalling.
