I just decided that I would go to a tanning bed for while b4 my Grad Party. Now is there anything I should do extra, like should I use a lotion or the goggles. I didn't really wanna wear the goggles, but does it help? Also, I noticed that my face (like the bridge of my nose and the top of my cheeks) was much more red (obviously) then the rest of my body, should I cover my face w/ a towel or something? HeLp! I'm new at this so please help me and let me know what I should or should not be doing. Thanks! (is it bad to wear make-up when you're tanning, etc...)

you MUST wear the goggles. Otherwise, your eye sight worsens and could lead to you going blind. You can get some goggles that fit just over your eyes and don't have any strap or anything that goes over your nose.
Most make up has SPF 15 or so in it, so wash it off before tanning. The lotions are nice to use, especially one with a little bronzer in it for your face. Make sure they are oil free if you are going to use them on your face! Otherwise they can make you break out.
I prefer stand up beds because sometimes my back and butt burn. You can also flip over every three minutes or so to prevent this from happening.

Only do tanning in moderation though, because it does cause skin cancer and people that do it too much look gross!!

Hope that helps!! good luck. :)

You should definitely be putting lotion on. The tech at the tanning shop should have gone to classes so that she could let you know what is the best lotion for you. They can be pricey. Especially the ones with the tingle factor it is suppose to stimulate and increase microcirculation of the skin for greater, more intense tan. They say that should only be used by an advanced tanner, and should not be applied to the face. It really does tingle and makes you have red goose bumps when you leave. But the reason for the lotion is so that your skin doesn't dry up. I don't like the goggles becuz I don't want to look like a clown, but they do say that it could really hurt your eyes. Hollywood tans here in MD says that you cant go into the room with out them, but ,I say, its really your discretion if you put them on when you are in the booth. Your face will be red, but it will go away after a day or so. But if you feel comfortable with the towel maybe cover it for 1/2 of your time in there. Wearing make up, I wouldn't think that it would matter, but again you may need to check with the tech at the desk.

To start off only go in the tanning bed for like 7-10 minutes depending on if it is a 7, 15, or 20 minute bed. Definately use lotion, maybe one with a bronzer. And ALWAYS use the goggles. They protect your eyes. I would go the first couple of times in a bed without a face tanner. As far as the makeup goes I always tan with mine on. If you have any more questions the person at your tanning place can answer your questions. They have to take a certification class in order to run a place like that.

you have to wear the goggles!!! the uv rays are wayyyy too bright to not wear them, and it's not even an option at tanning beds! Lotion is a good idea, and tanning salons will have plenty of different tanning lotions to choose from, and someone there could help you get the best one for your skin, but you can also just use regular lotion after you tan to keep your skin hydrated. if you want you can choose to not tan your face, and no you probably shouldn't wear makeup in the bed because it blocks some of the uv rays from getting to your skin. make sure you keep your skin hydrated!! and have fun at your grad party!

I've been tanning for a long while. If only going a couple of times close eyes. I would only tan my face for 10 min. tops. You will regret it - showing up red, blistered or ? I never tan my face I use Oil of Olay self tanner (new) I have total control over how dark I get then. Cosmetics will look beautiful and face is moisturized.

not everyone reacts the same to tanning. you can wear the goggles, they're there to protect your eyes from uv rays but you don't need them just don't open your eyes while you tan. you can cover your face for a little bit just dont do it so long that your face is white.
start out by going for a short time and then build up. you need a good base tan first.

and don't wear makeup while you tan

i don't use goggles, but wear eye shadow. it protects my eyes from burning. i usually take off makeup before getting in tanning bed, except for eyeshadow. i use lotion. i didn't buy mine from the salon, too expensive.i bought some from Ebay. just start tanning gradually,6 minutes for a few days then gradually increase minutes.you don't want to burn.good luck.

Wear goggles. they protect your eyes from UV radiation. our face may be more sensitive than the rest of your body so you could use a low SPF sun lotion on it to prevent it from burning.
