The Car is a symbol of the direction your life is going. Ask your self are you driving or is someone else? Are you in the front or the back seat? This is the active role you are playing in your life . The breaks could mean that you can't stop the path in which you are traveling.

Its a fairly classic dream symbol and very common (almost as common as the not being able to find a clean toilet one!)
Its about you feeling out of control over something in your life - sometimes the dream is brakes failing, sometimes its driving a vehicle you don't know how to drive, like a motorbike etc - but the symbol is the same, something is running away with you and you want to get control over it.

Ive had the same kind of dream.
I would say that is means that you are feeling that you have no control in certain aspects of your life, or you are scared of losing control.
Is this a re-occuring dream, if it is then you seriously need to look at your life, either work or home and try to work out what you feel you are losing control over.
If its a one off dream, your subconscious is trying to warn you that you may lose control if things carry on the way they are

Yeah, it means you can't exercise self control over certain situations in your life. You can't find the breaks. It can be talking too much, eating, lying, just some examples.

Wow, I've had that same dream a lot. I think it means you feel your life is speeding out of control.
