she said when my son had a bowel movement that it appeared there was blood in his poop. She said he is acting fine like nothing is wrong. I am just wondering if maybe he drank juice and that caused it. But, he only drinks juicy juice. Anyone had any experience with this.

I called peditrition and she said I should wait and see if he has another one. Sometimes they tear down there. I just feel like we should be more concerned about this. I mean the daycare lady has me freaked out. Should I go and pick him up or should I just wait and see if anything else happens. I am freaking out.

Relax, mommy! Take a deep breath. Chances are nothing's really wrong. Here's things to consider:
1. What has he eaten lately? Is he on medication? If he's eaten or drank anything red - including tomatoes or red juice or jello or he's on the antibiotic Omnicef, these can all cause red poop. (If he's at an age where he'll eat anything - some kids eat crayons or magic markers - blue poop looks even worse!!!)
2. Was the BM hard or does he have a history of constipation? Kids have a tendency to tear there, and it can streak the BM with a little blood. Red blood is okay. Black like tar or coffee grounds is NOT okay. That signals a problem internally.
3. If your son is happy and playing and acting normally and has no further issues, I wouldn't worry.

The only poop colors you need to worry about are black like tar (signs of internal bleeding), white like mayonnaise (liver malfunction) or streaked with LOTS of red blood (bad tear). Anything else is a variation of normal.

I suggest if you can, go take a look at him yourself and see how he looks and acts. Most kids with major problems are often pretty sick little cookies.

My son has these as well. My pediatrician told me that they are normal. It is usually caused by a little tearing in the tissue and is not painful to the child. (Although it sounds like it would be to me!) He also told me that if it was every time my son had a bowel movement, or was VERY bloody (instead of little spots) then take him to the hospital.

I remember the panic I felt when this happened. Hopefully it will be just what my son went through. Good luck!

Most likely he had a small tear because of a larger than normal stool. I applaud the day care for making the call. I would recommend calling the day care back first and taking to the person that was helping your child. Have them tell you if the blood was red and what amount of blood there was. Ask them to check your child again to see if it appears to have stopped or if this is what appears to be a common tear.

It could be some kind of parasite or perhaps just something that he has eaten that looks like blood... if he still has a bloody(if it really is blood) stool later today or tomorrow take a little trip to the doctor and just get it checked so you can be 100% sure. Probably nothing dangerous. But if he has abdominal pain and perhaps a fever you may want to take him today to the dr. Or as someone else wrote it could just be that he has pushed to hard... :) good luck

definitely worth looking into..may just be a little constipated...could even be something he ate that looks like blood, but blood in stool can be a sign of a food intolerance or allergy, so it's important to investigate. Red blood is a sign of active bleeding in the lower GI system (not before the stomach), could be a hemorrhoid or malabsorption....if your baby had black, tarry stools or his poop looks like coffee grounds, then it's chronic bleeding in the upper GI ( stomach or above)....if it were me I'd watch his stool for another day and then call with my concerns, armed with the facts...if it doesn't happen again it's probably nothing, but the MD needs to know to look for other symptoms of potential problems. If it gets worse or is consistent with every stool, then I'd take him today. Hope that helps!

What did this blood look like? Blood in the stool is usually black..how old is the child? Could he be eating things he shouldn't like crayons? If your really concerned call his
Dr's office and ask to speak to the nurse and go from there. She can advise coming in or it's probably nothing. Also how qualified is the person who told you this about his stool? Is she a nurse or a daycare worker?

i could take him to the well-being practitioner to get rid of the phobia of abdomen flu. My son has this each and every so often, he's likewise 2. He gets it each and every time he's feeling somewhat under the climate. After lots experimentation we discovered it replaced right into a undeniable style of apple juice we've been giving him. We stopped serving it and he have been advantageous for final 2 months. So no count number if that's conventional- could desire to be something so uncomplicated as his meals plan- yet could nevertheless take him to Dr first.

If the blood is bright red, it could be that he has a slight tear somewhere (possibly from straining). Real, honest to God blood in a child's BMs actually turns their poop black. If that's the case, your child needs to go to an emergency room immediately. My sons' pediatrician told me from day one that if the stool is black or tan, take them to the ER. Otherwise, wait it out (assuming the child is acting normally, isn't running a fever, etc.).

What color was the blood? Red blood is probably from a fissure when he was pushing, his stool may be too hard ad it´s giving him problems pushing it out.
Black blood is digested, that means the problem isn´t in the anus but somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. That may be more serious. He could be allergic to something he´s eating, but take your baby to the pediatrician asap and bring a sample of the diaper with blood on it with you so she knows what you´re talking about. best of luck!

I had the same experience with my 3 year old son a few months back, i was freaking out because his sitter told me he had blood on his stool and i left work and took him in right away to be checked. Turns out he just had a fissure that had burst (a small vein in his bottom) when he was pushing to go potty.
