About the singularity and big bang. The prevailing theory is the M theory, an adaptation of string theory where 11 dimensions and infinite "universes" exist. If our universe was brought into existence by some component of this theory, that displays that time existed prior to our universe's creation, does it not? Therefore, if time existed prior to our universe, where did time start? If the answer is time is infinite, then I say God is infinite and therefore there is a correlation between the two, as what exists forever (I am not defending a fundamental perception of God from the Bible, but doesn't the Bible speak of an eternal being)? I say God (whatever form He takes, not to suggest that which is portrayed in the Bible). If time is NOT infinite, then where/how did IT start? It, too, must have come from somewhere, been created somehow.

Thanks for the insightfulness. "No, you are wrong." I don't want to dispute you, but am asking for some evidence that that assertion is indeed incorrect, since so many asscribe towards only that which is supported by evidence.

My only suggestion is to deductively prove that there IS indeed something infinite about our uni/multiverse.

Like it or not, the existence of the visible universe does require an eternal... SOMETHING. Be it a deity, eternal quantum field, etc.

However, time in the full Universe may be something wholely different than the time we see in our visible universe. Our time is geometrically defined as a ray - an arrow that moves in only one direction. Time might be a full line in the outer Universe, that is flowing in both directions.

In short -- we simply just plain don't know.

Let's figure out quantum gravity then figure out where that takes us. Maybe it'll give some much needed information on this topic.

What does 'time' mean outside of our universe?

Unless you can think in 11 dimensional space (I know I can not) then you are going to have a real hard time with the details of M theory.

I understand enough to know that time as we perceive it in our universe is virtually meaningless in the 11 dimensional multiverse.

Either way, I see no need for any sentient being to have existed to 'create' the universe(s), so calling the multiverse 'god' is like me naming my car. I can do it if I want, but it is still an inanimate lump of metals and plastic.

It's a confusing concept, and one I couldn't begin to understand fully let alone explain. But to put to the bare wire, yes time must have started somewhere, but the idea of an enity, any enity OUTSIDE of time and space, makes no sense whatsoever. The begining of the universe is just about impossible to understand, but the idea of a being creating itself, and then making the universe, is impossible in my mind.

Maybe God.... Was working in another universe!!
Or maybe, god was doing all the planning and time is like nothing to him. Its like it just passes by, like when your having fun!
He was doing the whole trial and error thing. Making the whole plan...

MAYBE there was a whole universe before us, he just destroyed it because it was a mess up. So he like Etch-a-Sketched it. lol
Then BANG! Another one! So God WAS the big bang...

No. Saying "time existed before our universe" is incorrect.

You see, time doesn't really exist. It's a human concept. Much like god is a human concept.
