Yes. A passport is needed when traveling to a different country (with the exception of Mexico and Canada by land or sea until January 2008) and the United Kingdom is definately a different country.

Good luck on getting your passport in time for your trip.....happy travels!

No, No, NO! Look it up. You do not. The United States and the Uk have an agreement set up that does NOT require a US citizen to have a passport to enter or to leave the UK. I would know, I was there last year.

Oh yes, and it's takes a while to get your passport. Go to the post office and get an application. You'll need a certified copy of your birth certificate and a passport picture and I think $70.

Yes you definitly need a passport to leave the US. The passport process takes about 8-10 weeks and its about $130.00 thats if you are not in a rush to get it back but if you really need it its $186.00 at the post office. You would need 2 picture ID and your original birth certificate.

I know this cause i applied for my passport about 6 weeks ago!

Actually Kim, you do. The only country you dont need a passport to travel to, is Mexico and Canada (if you go by car). If you are a US citizen you only need a passport, no visa needed.
