I have Windows ME and I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows XP Home Edtion. I want to do the full installion instead on the upgrade version. I know if I do a full installion I will loose all my files and my computer will be like brand new. This maybe be a stupid question, but will the full install version have the icons for recycle bin, my computer, network places, my document files, internet explorer icons to name a few? I'm what is all on the full installion, because I really don't want to loose those programs or are they included on the full installion?

The only difference between the full version and the upgrade is whether or not you can keep your own files (thus having one active and one inactive version of windows on your hard drive). They will operate the same way, XP is very similar to ME in the way of navigation and it will have all the buttons you wish. It is more stable than ME, runs quite well and is definitely an upgrade you should make.

Good luck.

Most of those icons are there when you upgrade/full install to WinXP. You won't lose them, but you may have to make a shortcut to my documents, since it will be located on a menu that pops up when you click start. You just right click My Documents and drag it to the desktop "create shortcut".

Go to XP, wil will not regret it. Windows ME is still considered the worst operting system ever created by Microsoft.

When you perform a full install, you end up with Windows installed and anything that comes on the Windows CD (the icons, accessories, internet explorer, media player, etc.). You will not have any 3rd party programs that you have installed yourself or that came installed (if you bought it from a manufacturer like Dell).

Then just upgrade. put your Xp home cd in, and when it autostarts, choose install windows XP, and use the dropdown menu, to choose upgrade. Hope this helps!

you may desire to pass to a shop and purchase the disk. whether you may desire to enhance online, i might notably propose _not_ doing it. Why? because of the fact in the journey that your pc crashes and you may desire to reformat your force when you put in it online, you're screwed.
