Because this hate has been passed down from one generation to the next and continues on and on. Another factor is that protestant preachers say it is a sin and quote obscure biblical passages to support their views.

Preachers know that to have a large following and thus more money in the collection plate, they must cater to a hate or strong taboo that they know exists in the general population. If they don't, then their congregation gets smaller and less lmoney is coming in.

You are right, Jesus is love and that love extends to all people, including gays. If people would accept that and gay marriage was possible under the law, then they would eventually learn that those gays that married are, for the most part, just like themselves.

hating gays is wrong, but standing up for truth is not. Jesus would love those people absolutely and we are called to as well. But both the OT and the NT says that homosexuality is wrong. I have friends who are gay- I treat them as Jesus would, but at the same time, I do not condone what they do- Jesus told the adulterer, to go and sin no more. NO homosexual love is not from Jesus-

Two men who suffer from a psychosocial disorder is hardly something to rejoice over. Christianity is also a religion of truth, and therefore there will never be peace between God's Church and those who are desperately trying to live a lie. Incidentally, something that doesn't exist cannot be sanctified, and homosexual marriage does not exist, regardless of whether the state allows people to go through the motions.

Marriage=The Joining of Two people as Husband and Wife...

Two men cannot be Husband and Wife.

Whats wrong with having it called something other then Marriage, Only with the same benefits?

What do you think you get out of "marriage" ? Whats the huge deal?

Do you think you get Tax breaks? Well you don't get them unless you have a child...

Do you think it's easier to buy a house? Nope your credit is still the number 1 factor...

I don't understand why everyone thinks "Married" people get so much? They don't.

and if you really loved your partner...You wouldn't be worried about what you could "Get" out of marriage....

There is no 'sanctity' in 'gay marriage'.

Two men loving each other is from Jesus. Two homosexuals engaged in a homosexual relationship is sin.

Not my words.

I don't hate homosexuals. God doesn't hate homosexuals. Sin is sin.

as a christian myself. i believe that you are partially correct...jesus did intend on making some of his children "gay". i think he knew and understood that this, as biracial relations does, creates conflict amongst his people. through conflict we learn lessons. those christians who are in a defense mode with gay people are iggnorant to the situation. and i mean iggnorant in the asspect that they are uneducated. which causes them to become fearful and defensive, which causes them to attack the sanctity of gays.

it says in the bible that god will put forth tests and tribulations for us to go through. I believe this is one of them.

There are divine guidelines that we are called to obey. God wants us to obey all, not just some. Christians aren't attacking anything. We are all just trying to live as Christ called us to live. We are far from perfect and fall short, but our goal should be to be more like Him every day. God also doesn't call for us to gossip, backbite, be unforgiving, be promiscuous, lie, steal, etc. In the eyes of God, sin is sin. He still loves us, but he dislikes sin in WHATEVER form it takes.

Better yet, if they are peaceful why have they been killing people for centuries. I thought Jesus taught love and compassion and non-violence. I guess he is a hippie with a pistol...

It is through religion that people attack others. They use religion like a weapon. But it is their own hate and their own prejudice and their own ignorance and their own misunderstanding that guides them. Not Jesus.

Christianity may well call itself the religion of piece (yes, i agree that they cannot spell), but they don't want homosexuals getting any.
