I have an interview for a Cable Technician/Installer job, the setting is a Bob Evans restaurant in the afternoon. What would be considered appropriate attire? The job requires mostly outdoor work, should I take this into account when I decide what to wear?

Clothes DO make the person and saying otherwise just shows someone has no clue how the world works.

anyhow, wear nice slacks, a button down shirt with no tie and nice shoes, no not tennis shoes, wear shoes that belong with a suit.

Wear kahki pants and a polo shirt and some loafers (no tenni shoes). Bring a note pad to take notes. Even if this isn't how you would dress on a regular day you still want to look presentable like you were going to a business meeting at the company. A big mistake people make is to dress how they would at the job and not how they would to attend an important business meeting. Employers want to know you can pull yourself together for something important.

Wear something appropriate for an interview. A nice pair of pants (something more than jeans), a neat button-down shirt, and a tie wouldn't be out of line. You're going to an interview, not out on the job.

My husband was a cable installer for years. I would suggest a nice pair of jeans or work pants and a short sleeve casual shirt. I don't think you really need to dress up since you wouldn't be dressing up for the job but you should clean up some. Don't go in looking like you just crawled out from under your car but you also don't need to go in looking like you're ready to walk down the runway as a model.

Whether appropriate workwear, but clean.
A clean coverall wouldn't be inappropriate - if you've seen other employees dressed this way while working.
Most of the ones that come to my house in the past are wearing long sleeved t-shirts and jeans and boots though. (I think the long sleeves are in case they have to go into a crawlspace or reach into a bush or something.
You want to appear ready to go to work.
A suit would probably make the guy think you wouldn't want to get your hands dirty.
OH! Maybe a nice pair of dockers, khaki or blue, workboots and a button shirt or polo type shirt.

Nice blue jeans/cargo pants or slacks with a polo tucked in. You don't need to wear a tie to this interview considering the work involved, but the employer will want to know that you can be presentable since you will come in contact with customers on a regular basis.

Contrary to what others' advice has been, NEVER wear jeans to a job interview, regardless of the position. The first impression is what counts. Its the little details that matter in interviews. If you have three candidates with similar expereince, who would they hire? The person who seems neat and professional or the slob who shows up in jeans?

Wear a short sleeve collared shirt and casual pants like khakis or slacks. Shine your shoes...NO WHITE GYM SHOES. Get a hair cut and have a clean shave. The entire thing when getting a job is attitude and motivation. Good luck....

Don't dress for the job itself, dress for making a good impression. Slacks and a nice shirt. If you have a summer weight jacket take that to if only to drape over your arm or put on your chair when you sit down with these people.

No, wear the interview suit and then when the interviewer asks if you have any questions ask about the dress code for the job.
