My colleague is Christian like me but attends a more fundamentalist sect. She believes you cannot be same-sex oriented and be a Christian. You will be "cured" of your homosexual orientation once you accept Jesus.

So anyway, there is this gay man we both know. Lovely person by the way and I asked her during a social outing, if he were to join her church and say that he was now straight would she marry him (She's single & looking). She said, "Hell NO!"
I asked her why and she said she would not be comfortable doing it because she would always be worried about him.

Isn't that being hyprocritical? Be honest! Why wouldn't you want someone who says they were gay to marry YOU or your son or daughter?

If you truly believe Jesus can change them (and that sexual orientation is a just choice), why doso many still have gut reservations?

I mean- apart from any HIV fears (which affects MORE straight people (particularly black women) than gay people)

I relatively have been a Christian for some years so I talk relatively as an prolonged status Christian. gay marriage isn't our venture. what's our venture is our top to freedom of speech. You as a gay person, while you're gay, could comprehend this better than maximum. considering the fact that while has our u . s . no longer been one the place someone could desire to voice their opinion, considering the fact that while do all of us could desire to agree for concern of being persecuted. Christians do no longer prefer to harm absolutely everyone although that's our perception that marriage is between a guy and a female. although, for us to even talk those words we get referred to as names like the itch or c observe. My God human beings considering the fact that while can we no longer disagree without concern of being attacked. Gays are turning out to be very militant to the ingredient of taking the rights of others away. you assert Christians can no longer stress their ideals on non Christians, ok, that's advantageous, end in turn forcing your ideals on us. Its a 2 way highway my pal.

Don't be so hard on her over a hypothetical situation. From your story it sounds like you were asking what she would do IF the guy joined her church and went straight. What 'may' happen when people 'might' do things is inconsequential. If you are looking to turn this guy into a hetero by setting him up with a girl, maybe that isn't what he wants. If he IS interested in a girl, then you need to find him a different one.

Every one chooses who they want to get married to. some people save themselves from the world and would like for their partner to also be the same. this is all up the each person (It's a personal choice). It is just like saying would you marry a man that has slept with 100 women - some people can live with this others can't
some people are very picky on who they choose to marry others are not - so don't judge just understand her.
Jesus told use to love one another - you don't have to marry that person in order to love them and if she doesn't want to marry him then she just doesn't want to marry him god will not condem her.

hyprocritical would be if she wouldn't even want to talk to him or treat him differnt just because he was gay or even talked bad about him.

God bless

What strikes me the most is the condmenation made against being gays. As if it is an act of commission. I am a straight guy and I do not have a tendency to be one. What I am just apalled to hear is the "abomination" word normally tagged against them. Many psychologists and neurologists agreed in their findings that it is an abnormality in the hormones and the mind of a person. Meaning it is a kind of hormonal imbalance which is a defect and not an acquired habit from outside source like smoking, drinking, stealing, gambling.
If we can put justifcation for liniency over a serial rapists, serial killers, sociopath who have put the society in fear as a neuroglogical disease or mental disorders, how is it that we cannot forgive those who did not themselves choose to be what they are? Do you think it is easy for them to act simply against the normal function of the body they possess?
If God is simply against their being gay, perhaps none of them could be as successfully and abundantly provided as Elton John and the other movie directors, decorators, art and fashion gurus.
Your friend said, you will be cured if you accept Jesus. Good if he will be cured. What if not? Like many gay priests that I happen to know who are accepted by their congregations because they are great pastors and speakers? Will you as a friend condemn him? or accept him for what he is?
It is not being gay that one can sin. It is like being a woman who trade herself for pleasure. Like being a handsome man who use his charm to take advantage of the weakness of persons of either sex to make money. The same as the beggar who use his handicap to let other people pay for his laziness who are to be branded as sinners.

Fantastic question! If they truly feel that being gay is sin, and that a person can turn from this sin and be a new person...shouldn't they accept them on all levels...can't wait to read these responses....Good job!
