I hear a lot about, "How can there be a God when such cruel things happen on this world. How can anyone worship a vindictive God?" So I have an analogy. If a "good" person is thrown from the top of the Empire State building by "bad" people and they plummet to their death, is it God's fault for not changing the rules of nature and physics to save that person? How offended do we get when we are asked or expected to change ourselves to accomodate for the actions of others, especially when those actions do not coincide with our own perception of how the world should be? If God DOES exist, why would He be any different?

It's actually like this:

God supposedly created everything and gave Man freewill, while also setting down guidelines of what He judged to be acceptable and not. If God intervened into everything, then Man's freewill goes by the wayside.

So a better analogy would be if I donated a pristine piece of property to the city telling them that they were free to do with it as they wished, but that my suggestions for it were such and such. If they chose to tear it all apart, creating murder and mayhem on it and whatever else, then the resulting mess is their fault because it was their doing. They can't even say they didn't know better as a valid excuse, since I gave them good suggestions. I gave them something that was good, that they mucked it up is their fault.

Good point! God is who He is, which is Love. He is very Fair, more than we can comprehend. Fair doesn't mean that he treats us all the same either. Fair means that he treats us accordingly and as He sees fit. He is God and why should He have to explain himself to us. We should be explaining ourselves to Him. But that's people, we get so High Minded like we really know something. And by the way, none of us are Good, there is nothing Good about us. Thank God for his Mercy.

If god is all powerful and merciful, why wouldn't he use his power to save the good person? If he can't save the person, he isn't worthy of praise. If he can and doesn't, he's a jerk, and not someone I would want to worship.

Once again an anology that does not take into account his supposed omnipotence

But this "god" is all powerful, right? We are not. Invalid comparison.

Omnipotence is illogical.
