Depends. Many people end up regretting getting them. I hate anything that is so trendy. I have nothing against tattoos themselves, just that everyone and their mother has one right now. How can they still be a rebellion thing when everyone has one? They don't look good on everyone. That chick from Miami Ink, she's hot and makes it work, the drunk college chick with the crappy tribal above her ********, not so nice. I appreciate any that is well drawn and well inked. I respect good tattoo astists, like any artist but there is a point when it's overkill, like any other form of expression.

I love my tattoos. Even the one I got done on my left arm, on a whim (the placement is not so great, it should have been rotated 90 degrees), reminds me that beauty is imperfect, life is imperfect, and yet, even small acts carry great meaning and generate tremendous memories. The one I got done on my back, a phoenix, was designed by a good friend of mine, and I carry her with me always. My first tattoo, was gotten in remembrance of a friend who had died, and I think on her every day, but not with sadness anymore, and since it was my best friend that helped to polish the design, I see her influence in my life too. The ink on my right arm reminds me to be spiritual, and I enjoy having the opportunity to explain the significance of the Ohm sign to others. My tattoos have given me no problems with getting jobs, maintaining relationships, attaining respect, or being seen as a qualified caregiver to children. So in answer to the question "To Ink or Not To Ink," I say, follow your heart and remember that you only live in this body once, so you might as well enjoy it.

Tats are good a legitimate form of art and personal expression, and are an important part of our modern culture, tattoos can tell you a lot about a persons lifestyle and interests, if you ever get one ya should make sure they can be hidden under a short sleeved t shirt as they can also work against you later in life and when getting work etc.

There was a time when I thought mullets were cool...thank goodness haircuts aren't permanent.
The same thing is true about all the people in the mid to late 90's who put those trendy "barb wire" tatoos around their biceps. Now those look rediculous and everyone who got one is stuck with a reminder that they at one point were watching Pamela Anderson or a 98 degrees video on Mtv in 1997 and they thought "hey! I wanna be cool too!".
This is why I don't have a tatoo.

Personally I would never get a tattoo because I can't think of anything that I would want on my body 40 years from now, I change my mind on a daily basis and I wouldn't want to do something thats hard to reverse if I think I might regret it months from now. They certainly aren't for everyone, but if you do get one make sure it's something that means a lot to you and that you are confident will still mean a lot when your 90.

I like tattoos. I have one right now and plan on getting a few more. They can be bad if a person has too many of them. I don't think it's cute or sexy to have your body full of them.

Great, if you are old enough and mature enough to put thought into the tattoo and realize it will be there for life. And if you get a good tattoo artist, jail tattoos are not so great : )

I have 6. One on each leg, each collar bone, center of my spine and left should blade. It's very liberating--same as hair color, ear piercing, nail polish. It's permanent, so it requires thought before doing. I disagree with the "It's unprofessional". I worked in management jobs for years and none even knew I was tattooed. I chose clothing to cover them when it was necessary. I think they are great.

I love tattoos and have 4 of them myself. THey are all on my back so they are easy to cover up when I need to. The only tattoos that i think are distasteful is when people get their neck, face, or hands tattood. It is unattractive to me.

I love them. I only have two but I plan on getting more. I think it's just another art form. As long as you are sure of what you want and have no doubts then go for it. Find a reputable artist and be ready to pay a pretty penny. Don't ever get your partners name on you...for obvious reasons.
