It is not enforceable, obviously, but I wonder how many 'religious' people would like to see even more of their dogma in our laws.

If I would see such a law being deliberated, I would try my best to stop its passing.

This is not only impractical, because its implementation would cost so much of taxpayer's dollars, it is an unhealthy practice to refrain from sex if the adolescent urge to do it is very strong. If you have a good, trustworthy and loving partner to do it with, why not do it, marriage or no marriage? This is a known psychological and biological fact. In fact, other cultures and religions got it right, they not only allow, they promote sex between lovers before marriage. This is so that lovers would know if they are sexually compatible to each other. We all know that sexual compatibility is a very essential and important part of marriage. If one has not had sex before marriage, wouldn't it be really scary to get married to someone you do not know bedwise? Are not many marriages failing every year because of sexual incompatibility between the partners? And most of these do not go to statistics because no divorce happens, because this happens to religious people who do not believe in divorce.

Sex before marriage is healthy psychologically, sociologically and biologically, and it should be allowed. A law that illigalizes pre-marital sex is not only bad legislation, it is evil in the face of our humanity.

No, but having sex before marriage used to be illegal in many places. Even the way one had sex was legislated. For example, only the missionary position was allowed. Our attitude towards sex is a spiritual issue, not a legal one. Spirituality cannot be legislated.

Definately not. Sex is an important part of a relationship. As for abortions and STDs, yes some people are irrisponsible, but they as individuals need education/advice. Making it a law would be punishing so many people and hurting so many good relationships because of the acts of others.

I believe in the Son of God. And I agree with you. I caan't stand the judgemental dogma that spews from all these "churches". Your salvation is your business. As is when you want to have sex.

BigonDrums is short on reason, same with SDC

Why do people think making something a law will fix a moral issue?

That's the sheeple mentality

Yeah, I'd like to see that one get enforced *rolls eyes*. That's like expecting teenagers not to have sex by telling them that abstinence is the only way.

I'd sign that ballot. Think of the problems it would solve or would have prevented.

It would reduce the amount of single parents that have to struggle for a GED or diploma.
STD's would have been reduced.
Would AIDS exist at all?
Abortion issues would be reduced.
The list goes on.

I don't think this has anything to do with religion. Just look at the facts and how they could be different. (Of course you are right, no way to enforce it so entirely hypothetical)

I see one of the answerers above likes the idea. Making premarital sex illegal wouldn't actually stop premarital sex. It would just make it illegal. Or do you think laws concerning prostitution and drugs have worked?

I grew up in Holland, where pot is legal. I never smoked pot, because as a teenager it's not very cool to smoke pot when it's legal.

So, yes! Make pre-marital sex illegal. It'll make it even more exiting. It'll be the first time me and my girlfriend will break laws together. Cool.

No way. I do not agree with forcing anyone to follow anyone elses religious laws. Not even my own.
