I have two purebred boxers. The male is AKC certified, but the female was bought for us from a petstore, and the papers that came with her, are ACA. I've read that the ACA is for petstore owners and that any breed (purebred or not) can be registered with this club. My female just had a litter of pups (from my male), but when I called AKC, they said that I couldn't register the litter with them! This is so terrible! Is there ANYTHING else that I can do to get them registered with AKC, or am I just stuck with this other non-prestigious club (ACA)?

I have two boxers. One male and one female. Both dogs were bought as gifts for us, when we bought our new home. As we scheduled and waited for an appointment for our female to get spayed, they mated. Now we have a litter of eight. My male is AKC registered, but the female's paperwork is ACA. AKC is telling me that the pups cannot be registered. Is there anything that can be done, to get them registered?

Shame on you for contributing to pet overpopulation.

I hope you are prepared to take any of these pups back into your life at any time and for any reason.

People like you ARE the pet overpopulation problem and are the driving force for the animal rights nuts to try to take our dogs away from us.

AB1634 in California-The Pet Extinction Act- has been brought about because of careless people breeding dogs. Not the reputable breeders.

Of course the AKC will not register them.

Now do the right thing and spay the female, neuter the male, and do NOT place the puppies until you have fixed each and everyone of them.

News Flash! EVEN the AKC does not automatically mean that a dog is quality. AKC is the only so called presitgeous registry but AKC has NO clue what the dogs look like that are being bred, AKC hass no idea if your dog conforms to the standard of its breed. AKC has no idea if the dogs who are being registered are even truly purebred dogs because they are not there at the time of the breeding. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of dogs who are registered with the AKC who look similar to MUTTS. AKC is nothing but a registry that relies on breeders to do the right thing but sadly the majority of breeders are just like you and have no clue what the he!! is what.
Many people who think that AKC means quality uses that as a sales tactic.. You will often see litter advertisements starting with AKC registered as if it actually means they have something special. It means nothing most of the time as far as quality is concerned. You messed up... You first assumed that you had a quality dog based on registration then you bought a male who had a bogus puppy mill type of registration and bred the 2 thinking you were going to contribute what?
Breeders who use registries other then AKC can often times be found on the AKC suspension list for life due to false registration, poor record keeping, neglect of animals, cruelty of animals.
My suggestion is to spay/neuter your dogs and if you really want to become a breeder who will have something to contribute to the gene pool, then join a Boxer club, buy a quality Boxer from a breeder who has shown her dogs in AKC conformation and has a plan that consist of something more then just making puppies.
Showing and breeding dogs can be very rewarding when done correctly. What you have done here doesn't contribute to your breed in any way shape or form. Take this bad experience and learn from it. Be reputable. No one should want to be or aspire to be a back yard breeder with out a clue. I am sure that you do not want to be viewed in that light either.

Only litters from two AKC-registered parents can be registered with the AKC.

You're right, the ACA is another cheap "registry" that exists to give puppy millers (i.e. people who wholesale poorly bred dogs to pet stores) a cheap alternative to the AKC. Unfortunately, some people are foolish enough to think that any sort of registration will do.

The AKC accepts the sire submitted on the clutter registration - they only assume the breeder to be ethical. No themes till somebody makes it an argument. regarding litters sired by way of distinctive sires, sure - DNA profiling of the dam, all sires (or potential sires), and the doggies could desire to be submitted. i'm uncertain how the Canadian KC works, yet i might assume this is no longer plenty diverse.

There is nothing that can be done to have them AKC registered. While you are waiting for the dam to wean her puppies, go get the male neutered. A female will often go into season soon after she weans and you might as well be safe. What's done is done, you can simply prevent this from happening again.

No, AKC will not register that litter. You can register them with Universal Kennel Club. I assume since your dog came from a pet shop she doesn't have a family tree? So you are limited to just that club. If she does have a pedigree you can register he with United Kennel Club. That's very wrong of you to breed a Pet Shop Dog. These dogs are from puppy mills & may have severe genetic issues as well as phycological. You should only ever breed a dog that has reached its championship. I advise you to spay your dog immediatly.

Nope both parents have to be AKC for you to register AKC. The mother does not even have to be pure bred to be with the other registery so even if she is AKC would not recognize her as pure bred if she is not registered with them.

Another backyard breeder that doesn't even know enough not to buy a pup from a petstore. It's a shame.
