A bit of an odd question to ask so blame the girlfriend as they are her cats!

If a female cat has been neutered, do they remain sexually active or just lose all inclination towards the practice? Additionally, are male cats (un-neutered) able to tell which females are neutered by smell or some or some other reason and therefore pursue them less?

Many thanks

After those answers you'll be glad to know that actually 'neuter' is a correct term for a female - females are spayed and males are castrated, but neuter is a generic term that can be used to refer to either! It literally means 'to make neutral' which can refer to males or females.

Anyway! All cats are different - females do generally become less sexually attractive to males after being neutered, but they are still recognisable to other cats as female, so it's not impossible for males to still go after them. Similarly, while male cats generally lose their sex drive after being neutered, they're not all the same - some neutered male cats still hump cushions! I have known spayed female cats to come in that have clearly been mated.

Not all sex hormones are produced by the reproductive organs, so animal's gender is still recognisable after neutering. Besides, sorry to be crude but with some males if there's a hole available they're going to stick something in it!

If you've got an unneutered male I'd advise getting him done as not only might it protect your poor female, but it will protect his future health by saving him from prostate and testicular cancer.

First of all female cats get spayed not neutered. I have had cats my whole life and if I have gotten them from kitten stage I have had them spayed or neutered at 6 months. This prevents them from going into season and males from getting that urge to spray. I believe that male cats can tell when females have been spayed because they shoud not give off that sent and should not be in heat. I have a friend and she found a cat that has been fixed but still goes crazy every few months like a unspayed kitty would do but she has never had babies unless she had them before my friend found her. Male cats should be neutered to prevent them from marking their territory when they spray because that has to be the hardest odors to get rid of. Good Luck

I have a male and female cat. They are both fixed. They have never been sexually active together and I believe it's because they are fixed. They must lose the inclination.

I don't know the answer to your second question.

first of all a female cat gets spayed not neutered, and they will not come in heat after they are spayed, and that is when the male is interested.

hope this helps

it truly is maximum probable through heady scent of the cat from being on the vets. it truly is rather uncomplicated. Cats have an extremely comfortable experience of scent and % out with one yet another specially by way of heady scent. you only could desire to grant it some time. perhaps isolate the cat in a closed room for some days to cut back the stresses on every person, then change them. this ought to get them used to the hot smells.

fisrt female cats are spade not neutered(aka de-balled) they do not remain sexually active becouse of nohormens are left, they can biologically still have sex but no kitties wil come of it and they realy jsut wont want to. male cats can tell if a female cat is in heat(aka wants to get it on) and cats that have been spade will never be in heat so male cats will leave them alone. oh and they tell if they are in heat by smell, and they can smell it for up to 3 miles

they lose their sexual desires and males cats wont seek them out cos they dont come on heat and give off a smell that tells them she is ready to mate.
