Why do handicap people (mentally disabled) take advantage of the system? They sit at work doing nothing but staring at people and get a salary? What bugs me is that while most people work hard the disabled people just sit there and either read a magazine or whatever.
There are SO Many disable people that work for the government. Why is that?

The woman I work with is just mentally slow but she can work she just choses NOT to work but instead likes to do her stupid cross word puzzles or eat peoples food without asking. It's people like her who give the disabled a bad rep.

Our tax dollars are going to be spent on the disabled, whether they are employed or otherwise. The disabled do often contribute to society through employment, but even if they contribute little, isn't one of the benefits of society that the collective can look after even the least of them? I'm not for big brother looking after the selfish and unwilling, but the disabled are a different category. They have needs, both physical and psychological, just like everyone else. We don't live in ancient times. We no longer simply throw people over a cliff just because they don't conform. Ask anybody who works with these people of whom you speak. I'd bet they will be able to list many benefits, both to themselves and to the disabled, of having that person working next to them. Don't be too quick to judge others short comings.

That's pretty lame of you to say. At least they are out there trying to work. How would like to have their disability? Can you imagine not even knowing how to do everyday things like brushing your teeth or tying a shoe and struggling to maintain every single day for the rest of your life? They don't even have to work. They could pull in disability or welfare and sit at home like a lot of otherwise healthy people do. Why would you be so insulted by these challenged individuals trying to earn a living when life is so tough for them in the first place?
