A female dog normally comes into heat about every 6 months. They normally ovulate 9-12 days after the first sign of blood, but can vary so it could be 8-15 days.
So I would think it is unlikely that your female dog was receptive to the male if she was 18 days after the first blood she passed. I guess I'd also want to know what her behavior was towards the male at that time - was she acting interested and receptive, or resistent? If you haven't raised alot of puppies before you may not be totally certain of the signs of a dog in heat, and may have the days slightly incorrect.
Obviously 10 minutes is long enough to have your dogs breed! If you suspect she was accidently bred you can go to your vet and get medication that is similiar to the morning after pill. If given right away it will normally prevent a female from becoming pregnant. You will need to consider whether this is worth the risks. Any powerful hormone has some side effects, but if your female is too young, had a recent litter and needs to allow her body to rest, or has other strong reasons for positively not allowing any chance for her to be pregnant then you may want to consider such a med.
And the best solution for further problems is to neuter one or both of them if you are not planning to raise puppies. There is also a pill similiar to the birth control pill that you give your female when she first shows signs of coming into heat, but once again this has good and bad points. Keeping dogs seperated through the entire heat cycle is very difficult to manage!
Good luck and hopefully all works out well for you.

It is possible but not probable. If this is first time for both probably not even dogs do a bit of a courtship ritual. If they have breed before it's very possible. You can consult your vet but even vets can't usually tell anything before 30 days. Just to be safe I would start my count from that 10 min visit so you are at least close to gestation. If your vet does ultra sound he may be able to tell earlier than 30 days but not much earlier and it's not cheap.

That depends, is your male dog a gentleman??? lol Well, obviously if you left them alone together, if you think your male dog would do a thing like that and he isn't fixed, more than likely your dog is pregnant.

yeah its possible for sure! I think it takes a male dog between 6-10 seconds to come so she could theoretically have been impregnated numerous times.

probally not, dogs have to get stuck together until the male ejaculates ,this is some times a all day thing, if u did not find them locked together ,i would say you are fine, if u dont want puppies u should have her spayed

I doubt it because they would of been stuck together for at least 20 minutes...

10 minutes is more than enough time to get pregnant!

I think she is. You should take her to the vet to make sure. You don't want to be unprepared when the time comes do you?

Possible, but not likely.

However if you have her spayed as soon as her season is over you won't have to worry about it.

She probably is. I'd take to the vet to make sure.

Why didn't you spay her?
