I hope not because I will have just finished graduate school and all of that money and work will be down the drain.
**To the question of if they predicted anything else accurately, yes, they predicted when white men would come although they believed them to be gods and they had it down to the day. They also utilized advance math and astronomy that is accurate for today.
They believed the end of their calander was the end of the world due to an astronomical alignment of the earth with a part of the Milky Way, some rift that they believed had something to do with the creation of everything.

The Mayan do survive, about 6 million of them in Guatemala, mostly. The Maya don't believe the world will end on that day. The Maya believe that time is a circle, with no ends.

In regards to the Maya calendar I say this in reponse:
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
In regards to when the earth will end? I say this in reponse:
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mat 24:36 ¶ But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Zero probability.
Jesus said that the end (end time events leading to the end) will come only after the Gospel (Good news of reconciliation with God through heart faith & confession) is preached & published in all nations.
After this happens, God blesses His people much. Then many have their oil lamps full waiting for Jesus to rapture us. Then the rapture. Then the falling away, then the abomination of desolation, the Son of Lawlessness rules. Then they persecute & martyre remaining who believe in Jesus. Until mostly if not all remaining on the earth are antichrist. Then Gods wrath is poured out & then the bad ones go into the lake of fire or the abyss.
Then is the Age of Christ. That is going to be a long time. Then is the end of the earth & heavens. Then there is the Great White Throne Judgment & the rest of the dead not part of the 1st Resurrection stand before God. (The earth & heavens flee from them.) They are judged according to their works & those whose names are not found in the books of life are thrown into the lake of fire, the 2nd death.
Then the new heavens, new Jerusalem & new earth...
The end.

I know that it will definitely NOT end on 12-12-2012 because the Bible says on God the Father knows when the world will end. He's selected the day and it will come like a thief in the night, when we least expect it.

in 1999 people predicted chaos, catastrophe, computer breakdowns and end of the world, your Maya generation made a prediction, where are they now and did they predict that too?!!!!!!!
Jesus said in the scriptures that "no one knows the date nor th hour" not even Him at that time. we're only given clues that point out His soon second return and the end of the age. so read up your Bible and all will be well

Hmm.. did anything else the Mayans predict come true? I guess that would be the evidence I would look for. And if they were able to predict the date of the end of the world, why were they not able to predict the end of their own civilization? Well, if it does, no worries eh? I will continue doing what I do until then.

I have a Hallmark calendar that ends on December 31st 2007. Will the world end then?
Why didn't it end on December 31st 2006 when my Shrek calender finished?

They also believed they had to sacrifice humans to make the sun come up the next day. When they stopped the sun still came up the next day (don't you know they were slightly worried that first time though?).
So, no, I don't put much clout in their pockets. I don't even think they had pockets either.
