The Gideons, a non-profit ministry, does this. Hotels will let independent outside groups, from the Chamber of Commerce to the pizza place that delivers to real estate agents, put in their "literature." The Gideons are allowed, too. It's not that the hotel manager buys them; they just let the Gideons place them.
The fact that drinking, sex, etc. go on in a hotel is probably something the Gideons want to prevent, or at least sting peoples' consciences about, by placing a Bible in the room.
The last couple hotels I stayed in didn't have Bibles, incidentally.

The BIbles in the hotel/motels are always Gideon Bibles. The Gideons put the Bibles in there because there are so many people that pass through. They want to make sure as many people have an opportunity to read the Bible as possible. There are countless number of suicides that take place in hotel/motels so I guess they figure maybe it will be a last chance for them. I think it awesome of the Gideons. DOn't you?

Because Christians are called to fulfill the Great Commission, and placing bibles in hotels is one way the Gideons accomplish this. You don't know how many people have been saved from doing things they shouldn't BECAUSE they came across the bible in that room. Jesus came and walked among sinners because THEY are the ones who needed Him most...the saved are already on the right path. So how is putting a bible in a hotel room blasphemous? I think your attitude is reflecting that of the Pharisees during Jesus' time on earth.

The Gideons have been doing that for years. They pay for everything themselves. It doesn't cost the hotels (or the patrons) a thing.
They do it because one never knows when a person will have an encounter with God. I mean that God may call to you (the individual) to believe in Him through Jesus at any time. That time may be when you are all by yourself in a motel/hotel room. It may be after you've just had illicit sex with someone in a motel/hotel room (I happen to personally know someone for whom this was the case). Or, it may be during or after your business meeting in a motel/hotel room.
Your comment that alludes to hotels/motels being possibly divinely inspired, or that anyone might even think that, is a canard.

I think it is very intentional. It is a clever way of ministering to a specific group (travelers, abused women, business people, depressed/ lonely people) without knocking on their door. Maybe bibles in houses of ill repute would be a good idea too. People today are searching for answers, and all the answers are found in the Bible. And by the way, everything was created with divine inspiration. Have a good day.

this is achieved by way of a team stated as the Gideons. Their objective is to have a Bible in each and every hotel room in the international. even with the undeniable fact that, in some international places the place countless the individuals belong to a faith different than Christianity, you frequently will additionally come across a e book of that particular faith alongside with a Bible.

Even God's word will shine in the dark places. I have heard a few testimonies from people who was saved in a hotel room because they picked up that bible. When Jesus walked this earth he didnt go to the saved he went to the unsaved. He went to the buisness man, he went to those who did crimes to do with sex, and even the drunkards. I am glad he did and because we have his word he still does.

People also commit suicide in hotels and motels. Bibles in the rooms are last ditch effort to inspire them out of offing themselves there.

The Gideons usually put Bibles in hotels--The way the world is, I don't think it can hurt--may help a few folks--and remember we are all sinners here--for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and also--no sin is greater than another--sin is sin--bottom line!

Many people are there alone too. When you are alone, and have no one to converse with, sometimes picking up a book due to curiousity may actually change someone's life. If it works for one person, the Gideons would probably consider their work was not in vain.
