My vet told me $500 but I'm thinking it's over priced plus they charged and additional $250 for tests & medication.

I just took my cat for the same thing and it cost $200.00. They said the high end would be $400.00 depending on how he tolerated the anesthesia. Call your local vet for pricing as it does vary.

Each vet has their own pricing, and different areas seem to have different prices.. You have to check around and get a good idea what they are charging in your area..
But a vet is going to have a hard time giving you a quote, as they haven't seen your pet, and they don't know how far along things are, the health of your pet etc.. So unless your vet is very unreasonable and you aren't impressed with him anyhow, it's likely best to stick with your current vet. He knows your dog's problem, and what has been done etc.

Each vet will have there own pricing on this. You need to ask your vet to see what the cost will be. If it on their high side then ask before hand what kind of playment plans they have to have the surgery done.
