I am an Englishman and I was born and raised in Lancashire. Whilst you are perfectly entitled to your view as to what you eat, you did not appear to express that view. You appear to have made a statement as to what should be done with Turkish food in general. It is rather different. Many English people do enjoy some foreign foods otherwise there wouldn't be so many foreign restaurants in England. I myself now live in a part of Thailand were there is no English type food at all. I am still alive and well. Enjoy your English food but it is not polite to tell other people that the food they eat is only fit for throwing away. As to being reported for it, well, there are some odd people out there. I was reported today for saying I didn't understand a question. It is not something to worry about.

If you don't like Turks or Turkish food, then maybe you have some issues. If it's just the food you have a problem with because you don't like it, then fine - nobody has a gun to your head to eat it!

As you're English, then a) you're not 100% percent ANYTHING if you know the littlest thing about British history and b) any concerns you have about eating foreign food are irrational, ignorant and plain stupid; most of modern British cuisine is made up of various bits of 'foreign muck'. So if you take away all foreign foods, what do you have left?
Do you like potatoes? Because they're not actually native to the country. Sir Walter Raleigh was one of the first people to introduce them to the UK way back when Elizabeth I was queen. Ever had a banana or an orange... need I go on?

Bon appetit...

You don't like it because you weren't raised on it. Your "breeding" as Yorkshire and white has nothing to do with it. Had you grown up eating Turkish food, you would probably similarly hate the same English food you love so much, band that many in the world disparage regularly.

Get over it, eat what you want. Just don't be so condescending about it and maybe people won't think so poorly of your attitude.

I'm 100% European and I like chinese and indian food. If you don't like it, don't eat it but I don't think you shouldn't eat something just because it originated somewhere else. And for the record I grew up eating all different foods, including English (from my Nan who lived in London during the Blitz). I'm proud of my English heritage but I don't feel the need to bad mouth everyone else! A lot of foreign food is very nice but hey! Eat what you like, leave what you don't it's a personal choice.

Why should you be expected to like Turkish food? Because, coming from Yorkshire, if you like the scratchy bits of batter left over in the chippie so much you regularly ask for them as a delicacy, and if you can drink Tetleys keg bitter (as opposed to Tetleys 'on pull', and if you can go to the market in Leeds and spend your pay dole or grant on a pile of roasted pigsfeet, and if you think that the way to cook peas is to soak the dried variety in water and bicarbonate of soda for a day or two before boiling them to a mush, - Then it is reasonable to expect that you are capable of eating and professing to enjoy anything on this planet. I think what you mean is why should the rest of us like Turkish food.

I am like you.I like traditional English food and do not like Indian or Chinese or other foods. I don't say ban them though as I don't have to eat them.I just ignore them and have what I want.you have to accept that other peoples taste may not be the same as yours.Think of what a Frenchman thinks or roast beef. It's a case of live and let live.I don't want to eat your type of food, but you can eat what you like.I don't think even the most ardent Turk would expect you to eat his type of food if you didn't want to There is no disrespect in having your own tastes.Well its Toad in the hole tonight with mashed potatoes and lovely gravy. How about you?.

Maybe its not what you say, its the way that you say it.....If you are going to generalise then you can only expect to be criticised...What about 'French Fries' I bet you like them,
Potatoes came from South America....Turkey didn't originate in England, but I bet you have it for Christmas, and what about 'Brussell sprouts' If you live in Yorkshire and I did, then you are surrounded by some of the most diverse cuisine in the whole of the UK, go on, try it, you may even like it,
As Peter Kaye would say, 'Garlic Bread!!!! Its the future'

No one is telling you what to eat or not to eat. But to say that all other foods should be disregarded just because YOU don't like them is ridiculous. I couldn't imagine a life where I have to live on pie and chips all my life and not one single curry, chinese, or pasta. If you think that way then I hope you are not driving a foreign car and that the trainers on your feet are not Nike, Addidas, the clothes on your back are not from a high street store etc as they are all made by foreign hands.

you do realise that most of the food we count as 'english' today are not native to the british isles? for example, staple of the sunday roast? potatos are foriegn (discovered in america in the 1600s), war-time delicacy - bananas aren't exactly native. Oranges, lemons, citus fruit on the whole, sausages (german), beer (mainland europe, we used to make mead), wine, most herbs, peaches, all imported. so if everyone had your low tolerence of 'foreign food' then out diets would be decidedly boring

just because you're a xenophonbe doesn't mean we all have to be, and no-one is forcing you to like anything, just don't try and dictate to us
