When some of my female friends asked me about the idea of getting a tattoo, the only things I would say to them is:
1.) Think about where you are going to put it.
2.) Think about the size.
3.) Think about how it is going to look when you are 90 years old.

If the tattoo you want to get passes these tests in your head...then you do what you want. Ultimately you are the one who has to live with it and yours is the only opinion that really matters in this. A tattoo by itself, if done right, will not make you look trashy. If you like it, then go for it and enjoy.

No its your body, but I think that in todays society, these things are all fads. You should be more unique. Because everyone and there mother has that similar tattoo, do something that separates you from the crowd. Besides I would not trust some of those Chinese letters, you never know what that stuff can really say. But if you want a tattoo that does not change the person that you are, don't listen to people who judge.

I use to date a tattoo artist for 3 years and I got to watch him tattoo all the time on girls. The one thing that doesn't make sense to alot of people is if you aren't chinese, then when are you putting chinese letters on you. 2nd ... don't put a nickname on your lower back because when you bend over everyone can see it. (that may be the point of a tattoo but alot of people do see that as a tramp stamp and some don't) I think you really need to rethink what you are about to put on you for good. Maybe think of something that reminds you of something. I have a lilly for my aunt that passed and a clover for the irish in me.

Unfortunately in our society people find anything to judge us. Don't worry about it. Just be you. It's your body and it shouldn't matter what others think because you know who you are.... I have a tribal on my lower back and I'm not a tramp. I think they are sexy but by all means it doesn't say the girl is a tramp!

That would be just as bad as people thinking that all people who ride Harley's are dangerous and they're not. Or all the Mexicans in America are gangsters and they're not. It's just being stereo-typical.

Get the tattoo YOU want, where YOU want it at, and be who YOU are!!!!!

A tattoo is a decoration of your personality and if people tell you that you will look trashy, they are just jealous that you are willing to go through the pain and don't want you to go beyond their thresh-hold. Tattoo's are also an expression from your life and they are supposed to have meaning, and it doesn't matter where you have one at. There must be a reason that you have your nick-name and people put their nick-names on their body all of the time. You have to make your own decisions and do what you want to do for you, not for someone else. Who cares what they think. You are an individual and you are unique in your own special way. Who are they to judge? Do what you want! This is your "ADULT" choice, not their's.

You shouldn't let people judge you re: what you want to get and whether you should get it. It's your tattoo, get what you want.

I do want to give you a heads up though. There is no alphabet in Chinese....all characters mean an actual word. So you would have a sentence or a grouping of characteristics that may sound similar to your English name or your nickname. It will not be your name however...

I see people with lower back tattoos all the time and the tramp stamp thing never even crosses my mind. But when I see people who are not Asian with kanji tattoos I think that they should be more original. But it's your body so do what you want.

okay, some people do call it a tramp stamp, but i've also heard things that have nothing to do with being a whore, like california license plate. i think it's just stupid that people stereotype someone for having a tattoo. i, personally, love them and i think you should get whatever tattoo you want and ignore what people think about it.

don't let them stop you. get your tattoo where you want it. it's your body. who cares if people judge you, it's not their body and they don't have to live with it for the rest of their life, you do. if you get it somewhere else than where you really want it, you won't be satisfied. and tattoos are forever. so choose wisely. i know a lot of people who have lower back tattoos and i don't think they're trashy. i think you should get it where you want it. good luck. :)
