I just read this as part of answer, obviously copied from some godisrealdammit.com website:

"....In order to state that there is no proof for God's existence, the atheist would have to know all alleged proofs that exist in order to then state that there is no proof for God's existence. But, since he cannot know all things, he cannot logically state there is no proof for God's existence....."

Are these people serious? if so, please show me the hidden proof.

The irony is that the statement can be turned 180 degrees around to question them. As most christians state that they KNOW god exists. They are basing their biased "knowledge" on this world alone while there is a MASSIVE universe out there that they have yet to explore. How can they KNOW god exists, or KNOW that the god they've chosen is the 100% right one when they themselves do not know EVERYTHING either?

It's a rather hypocritical statement for them to make & very stupid.... they are basically saying that if you don't know everything you can't claim that god doesn't exist...... but if you willingly know NOTHING & are ignorant to EVERYTHING but what you can see with your own eyes..... you can "KNOW" god exists. Isn't that kind of admitting that they are just too dumb to think about anything more than what is in their own little bubbles on this miniscule planet in this massive universe without some kind of imaginary deity watching over them?

The logic in this reasoning is absurd. First, I'm assuming that this was written by a person that believes in the existence of God. Secondly, the argument presupposes something to be true, then claims everything to the contrary to be false. It says, in a nutshell, that an athiest needs to know all alleged proofs, but since an athiest can't know all things (which I believe the arguer means alleged proofs), that the athiest cannot disprove the existence of God, therefore God exists. If there is more to the arguement, and this particular section is being read out of context, it could change things a bit. But, the fact that I can't entirely disprove something doesn't offer any proof that such a thing exists--I can't DISPROVE the existence of Santa Claus with 100% certainty, but that alone isn't proof that he exists.

This is just a typical flawed arguement written by some HLS grad!

Actually, the part you think is cut and past, is quite poor writing. I'd say that many are capable of coming up with that bit of drivel.

Basically it breaks down in that it is attacking semantics rather than fact. It is arguing from the point of view of a lawyer.

When anyone claims that there is no proof of a god, one can reasonably understand that the person making the statement means that they have been presented with no proof of the existence of a god. One could make the claim that there is no proof of a planet made of cheese. The argument above would have s believe that there still could be a planet of cheese as we would require the knowledge of all alleged proofs to disprove it.

If our legal system worked this way, without the concept of "reasonable doubt" ... "But do you know for a fact that Mr. Jones DIDN"T kill Mr. Ford from 95 feet away with a noodle?", the world falls apart.

Reason is the single capacity that places humans in the tenuous position that we enjoy. Many would have us toss that capacity aside and replace it with dogma. The writing above shows how that works. It holds a concept that cannot be proved as true, and ridicules attempts to examine it with reason as somehting that cannot be accomplished, and therefore foolhardy to attempt.

There have been book's in the Bible written by prophets stating their experiences with God. However, sometimes I do believe this is hard to believe considering that we haven't seen God nor have we heard his voice from the heavens. However, think of it like this....who created the world? Who created people? Obviously someone did and I do believe this someone is God for in the Bible it talks about "there will be wars upon all nations" which is taking place right now between the United States and Iraq. It also states (and if I'm correct I believe it's Acts 2:7) that there will be clouds of smoke, fire and blood before his arrival on earth. OK....the blood part.....much blood has been shed lately with the war in Iraq, the massacre at Columbine and at Virginia Tech (just some examples),....fire and clouds of smoke.....there has been NUMEROUS fires lately in Georgia and Florida. There's over 230 if my perdition's are correct. Plus...smoke from the fires..and trust me the smoke is terrible. I live right on the Florida/Georgia border and have seen for myself how bad the fires really are and the smoke. Honestly I can't tell you what to believe in but here's some things you might want to consider. Have a great day!

If there was "real" proof. Don't you think they would have shown it on TV? Because everything on TV is "real" right?? LOL
The world will never know if god is real or not. All religion is an opinion. People go by blind faith. That's ok let them. As long as they are not bothering anyone, i see nothing wrong with those people loving God. However, religion hurts people. It brings war and feelings of guilt. I choose to put my faith in living my life as a good person. Not a denomination. Although, people who think like me ARE in a denomination...oh well.....i'm not down with god

In all logical sense:

If there is a god, who did create time/space and all existence. Then all sides have to admit, due to his position: that being of the creator of all things, and in order to create, one has to be greater than what was created. We CANNOT comprehend his existence. If I were to show any human, if that be Newton or Hawking, they would not even know what they were looking at.

We will never be able to prove if he exists or not. It's just not possible.

Its obviously correct that noone can know everything, but the logic of this would suggest that just because we cant 100%prove something that therefore might possibly be true no matter how small a chance, is worth believing in: just incase!

There is some hidden proof. It is hidden in the Genetic code of Human Beings. In the bible, it states that God Created Man in his own likeness. The Genetic Code that links to the soul is where the hidden proof will be.

Science has measured a real mass loss in a person who dies. But they have yet to be able to asertain the cause of the mass loss. (they can account for the out gassing, and waste releases, ect... but there is still a measurable mass loss in the moments of death)

Still, a belief in God is about belief with out proof. Those who wait for the proof will only get their proof as they are sent down into the Firey Pit.

If you want an excellent explanation of the existence of God, go to Peter Kreeft's website. You will find both audio and written explanations of about 20 proofs of the existence of God as well as other philosophical explanations of faith. Just search "Peter Kreeft".

Religious people have many arguments to support their beliefs, and none are logical at all. A mathematician does not need to see all ways of squaring the circle to know that anyone who claims he has done it is wrong.
