it sounds like its infected. ive had this, so dont stress!
have you changed your ear rings recently? when I got bulkier ones, this infected my ears because they were always bumped by things, and also you cant sleep with bulky ear rings in.

what i did was take out my ear rings everynight, soak them in antiseptic (i use 'ear-care') and put a cotton ball soaked in antiseptic on your ear lobes, back and front and sleep with them there.

if you can, try to not wear ear rings for a while, and they should heal within a week. but if it gets worse, see a doctor.

good luck! xx

If it's infected you may have an orange/greenish gunge come out of it, in which case take the earring out, clean it often and you probably want to see a doctor to prevent any infection spreading.
You may have a metal allergy reaction. Many people have allergies to silver and other less expensive metals. I would switch to gold if you are not wearing it already.
If you have put in jewellery recently which is a little too big for the hole, or have left the hole a long time before putting jewellery back in, this can cause damage leading to bleeding and or the secretion of a harmless whitish/orangish grunge.
Personally I would remove the earring, see a doctor in case it is infected. If it is then in the time it takes to clear up the hole may have closed.
If this isn't the case and the skin and flesh is simply easily irritated you might want to think about simply letting the hole close. Not all people can get all piercings, sometimes the body just doesn't like one.

You may have an allergy to the type of earrings that you are using . Try using just stainless steel post or surgical steel. That may help to stop the reoccurring infections. Clean constantly with hydrogen peroxide too when it flairs up and keep you earrings cleaned off with it also! What you may be feeling inside is swelling or scar tissue from the piercing. Good luck hope it gets better!

You sound like you will have to start wearing hypoallergenic earrings or 14K gold from now on.
You have sensitive ears. Don't to worry, you could see the Dr. for the infection.....then only the best earrings from now on. I wear piercing studs all of the time. I've got the same problem you have.

you are prob allergic to metal, whatever that ear is rejecting and yes it can happen in one ear and not the other. plus i will bet the ear thats sore is the one you tend to sleep on or put pressure on. you might need a really good antibiotic ointment and go to a eally high end store and get a pair of errings that work. try little earrings and let them heal before getting anything that pulls more on that infected ear.

It is infected, you need to take the earing out for a few days until there is no bump, and it doesn't bleed, put some hydrogen peroxide on it to make the pain stop and to clean it out really well

You could be allergic to the earrings you are wearing--try using 14K only posts or hyoallergenic earrings and also you can use neosporin or alcohol but you may want to have a physician look at your ear--it could be infected.

my piercings in my upper ear cartlige does this too, it makes me mad because i noticed even the "nickel free" jewelry does this to my ears. The only thing that i can wear is the small hoop (endless kind) with the ball. You get from an actual piercer.
