Here's a simple plan:

Breakfast: Whole wheat English muffin with peanut butter
Lunch: Low-cal soup (try Progresso) and a salad with fat-free dressing
Dinner: Grilled fish, sweet potato, veggies

Snack after workout: Protein bar or fruit

Do an hour of cardio 5 times a week, and an hour of weights 5 times a week, too.

The magic formula is : eat a little less(only healthy food) and move a little more(whatever you like to do - dance, walk, run, yoga, swim, bike). If you are really overweight(you are the one who can tell yourself if you really need to lose weight), you need to change lifestyle. So, here are some things that you should consume rarely: soda, cakes, ice cream, candy, alcohol, fat meat.
And don't you dare think to lose weight in a hurry, 'cause you'll only make things worse. I have a friend who had to go through this, because she was really overweight and couldn't have a baby because of this. I went with her to the doctor and he said to do what I have told you right now, but she was so desperate that she stopped eating(she was only eating something like a fruit or salad the whole day), even if me and her family tried to convince her to do what the doctor said. She didn't want to do any phisical movement, because she doesn't like it. The story ended like this: she did lose 20 kilograms in 3 months, but you don't want too know the way her skin looked like, but she became depressed and lost all strengh. She didn't succeed with having the baby and she regained all the kilograms in 2 months. So...you'd better be carefull.
Good luck!

Here are some simple suggestions

Cut the fat!
Basically, these are the processed fats: hydrogenated fats, polyunsaturated oils that have been heated, and fats that are combined with junk carbs.

Cut the carbs!
Basically, junk carbs are low-fiber carbs, like sugar, fructose, flour, cornstarch, fruit juice. For example you should eat the whole fruit instead of fruit juice.

Cut the calories!
Most people do not need an ultra low calorie diet. But just think what your diet would be like if you dropped the processed fats and the low-fiber carbs. You'd be eating mainly natural proteins, with lots of vegetables plus whole fruits - and the odds are that you would be eating far fewer calories as well. That's the kind of calorie cutting most of us should be doing. (Check out this link for calories:http://www.weight-loss-choice.com/Food_Calories_List.html )

Eat a balanced NATURAL-FOODS diet.
By natural foods, I mean lots of whole vegetable foods for vitamins and fiber; moderate to small portions of meats, fish, seafood, and other animal and protein foods, grilled, stewed or baked; and small portions of fresh whole fruit in season. This is the diet on which for the vast majority of people, makes for optimum health.

Additionally read some healthy diet literature for motivation and have some consistent exercise activity. Any good sport will eventually help you lose weight; if there is one that you actually like engaging in, go for it.

Dieting is not easy and it takes a time. But the most important is to do it in a healthy way.

Good luck!

weight watchers. My mother lost 39 pounds with there program. My sister also lost 20lbs on weight watchers and I started this week. The frozen meals are good and there recipes are also good. They also give you a dinning out guide. Walking along with this diet will help you start a daily exercise routine but is not necessary to lose weight.

Low fat foods and limiting your carbs also helps try eating 6 small meals a day instead of 3 large meals
weight watcher has 2 types of plans one using a point system based on your weight and height and the other is called the core plan with a list of core weight loss foods of which you can eat as much as you like as long as they are on the list.

also salads are only diet friendly if you limit what you put in them. good luck!

Simple. Exercise and moderate your eating habits. You do not need to drastically cut off all the unhealthy food at once. Just eat lesser of it each time round and Do more exercise. Do cardio 3 to 5 times a week. Each session last 45 minutes to an hour. If you want a dietary and exercise solution that many people including myself have tried it before, you can visit http://www.missionsculpt.com/bffm/
