I went on Sunday to adopt a cat from a pet shelter. I was upset that they had so many black cats there. I adopted two black cats, brother and sister, and they are the sweetest cats you'll ever meet.
So, my question is, are you superstitious of black cats so much that you wouldn't save one from being killed in a shelter?

Historically, they were associated with witchcraft and were put to death. No, I'm not superstitious about cats. Personally, the sweetest cat I ever owned was black. My friends also say that about their black cats' temperaments. Enjoy your beautiful pets.

I go with the British belief that black cats bring good luck. I love them, black animals seem so much more free-spirited.
If I saw a black cat in a shelter, that wouldn't stop me from adopting it. If I could, I'd save them all.

not at all, I work at a shelter and there are some I just totally love there.
years ago (well before I worked there and before we became a no kill shelter) there was a lady that was very against black cats and if a black cat came in she would euthenize it because she didn't think that anyone would want to adopt a black cat. that is just wrong!

I'm not superstiitious of black cats at all. I actually have a black cat myself. He was the only black cat in him litter and I fell in love with him. He 1000% a mommy's boy and is the sweetest kitten I have ever been around.

And congratudulations on your new black kitties. You made a good choice! The black kitties I have had have been VERY loving. But becareful around Halloween, there are some crazy people who go after black cats. There was even a warning in the newspaper last year.

I absolutely adore black cats. I'm getting a cat from a shelter when I move in a few weeks and I'm REALLY hoping for a black cat!! I think they're absolutely gorgeous :)

why heck no, we've had a cat that is black for prolly like 12 or 13 years.. that black cat stuff is completely retarded... now as for the shelter thing who cares if they are killed man their cats! pets get very annoying too when ya wake up in a bad mood haha

No I'm not superstitious of black cats. I owned 3 at one time.
they were beautiful cats. the black fur was so black it seemed toshine. If it was possible for me tal have another cat I would take a black cat everytime. but my favourites are ginger ones.
