Hey people. Well what can I say, I totally hate office work - and I have done lots of them. I've had enough of it now and just want to get out! I want just to be happy, so can anyone suggest some alternatives. I'm 25 year old male in UK. Happiness is more important than money.

Thanks for your answers, means a lot to me. Best answer chosen as always:)

I was always looking for that extra few dollars and finally found a very good way to get them. For two years I spent my weekends selling food on the street where people gathered to enjoy on weekends.

This was a few years ago and it was very well worth it. I averaged for my pocket just under one thousand bucks per weekend. Yes that is true. I also had a job during the week and that paid well also. After the two years I was 54 and had enough to retire and that is what I did. That was fifteen years ago and never regretted it.

The point is that what seems like a poor way to earn a living might just be the opposit. Here where I live now there are beggers all around and they are organized and they are not poor.

Opertunity can be found in very strange places.

We are peas from the same pod. I'm 25, been working in office's since i was 17. I hate it, its crap.

My advice would be to start your own business, be the boss. I have started my own recently and its easier than i thought it would be and I am now wondering what the hell took me so long to do it. i'm not making enough to give up work just yet, but its only around the corner. Start something that needs very little start up money, I've decided to trade on the internet, start up costs are nil except for stock.

Life is too short to be miserable, make a decision, do some research and bite the bullet and go for it.

Goog luck, be happy!

Decide what you are passioinate about and look for something in that career field. If it's sports maybe you start out selling tickets at the box office and work your way up. You spend a good part of your day at work so you need to enjoy what you do. Never trade money for happiness and you will always be successful.

You can go two ways.

You can try to get another job in something that you would like to do. I do not know what you enjoy. Why don't you do an aptitude test to see what you are good at.

Alternatively, you can try to save and get a house and target getting out in 10 years - for example, going to somewhere where your money will go a very long way. Today - parts of South East Asia or Fiji or Africa.

Do you have any hobbies???

Do you like the countryside???

I worked as volunteer warden for 6 months at my local RSPB reserve - best job I ever had!! Lunch out in the sun!! If it rained we just went in doors!! had a cracking tan at the end of my time.

Wages aren't brilliant - £15000 + for an Assistant warden but like you said happiness is more important than money!!!

Hope you find what you want!!!

Do what you are interested in and what you are good at doing. It might help to go to an employment agency to take a couple of aptitude and interest tests to see what kind of job is appropriate for you. Don't just jump into another job, or you might find yourself right back where you are now.

Go to Craigslist: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/ Go to the right side, click "UK" and then select the location closest to you. Then start searching for jobs, gigs if you want something temporary... just pick categories that interest you and see what might be available in those areas.

Get a trade. I am not sure about the UK, but here in the US unions have apprenticeship classes all the time. If you get in a good union you will always have a good job to fall back on. If you get in the carpenter's union or electrician's union you can build or rehab houses on your own if you are entreprenuerial.

Good luck!
