Of course alcohol makes you depressed - you need to meet more people, and online if you're smart about it is not a bad place to start.
There are tons of forums and communities where you can do just that, specialised and generalised ones.
Get PhotoShop if you don't have it, and make the cards you always look for at the last minute, play around with making web pages, there's soooo much that one can make!
If that's not your thing, try games, there's a plethora of games for every kind of interest that there is, and only one way to find it - play them!
You could always switch off the PC and go outside - when last did you go and sit outside? If you have a garden, why not renovate it and start putting some new stuff in and spruce it up a bit?
Look around you in the house, I promise you there's normally more than enough to keep you busy - yes it's kinda like a chore but the reward at the end of the day is so worth it!.
If you have pets, why not treat them? Make kitty a new climbing thing from an old tree branch.
Have you got a car? Need anything done to it? Maybe now is the time!
That new sound system you've been eyeing? How about doing something new like wiring up extra speakers all over the place? Some spring cleaning?
Do any reading? Time to perhaps catch up, there are some really great writers out there writing up a storm, I am a avid reader and still cannot keep up!
Ever make stuff, hobby-wise? Finish up that scarf you've been promising to someone for years, or paint that figurine that just never got finished, or try your hand at scrapbooking?
Maybe time to invest in yourself for a while - go for that spa treatment you've always wanted if you have the cash, or treat yourself at home with cucumber over the eyes, invite a few girls over and do the whole number, face masks, manicure, pedicure, the whole nine yards!

There's so much to do, I never get around to half.....er....probably cause I spend more of my time here!

Is it the alcohol that is depressing you (alcohol being a depressant, that is natural) or the emotional ideas attached to drinking (do you have a history of drinking heavily, come from an alcoholic family, or have you had any thing like accidents happen when you were drinking)?

Also, are you alone in life at all? Do you have friends you can be with?

Alcohol is usually an "emotional lubricant." It helps bring out any latent, underlying, or hidden emotions that you may be trying to block out of your daily life (called repression). If you look at yourself deeply, how often do you feel depressed? Is it the alcohol or something else that brings you down?

I think you need to find other activities that you enjoy that don't include drinking! Are you involved in sports? Is there a club you might like to join? Since you know drinking can make you depressed, I think avoiding alcohol is your best bet. If you need help with that, please seek it. AA is a great organization.

It makes you depressed because alcohol is a DEPRESSANT. Please go get some help. If you drink enough alcohol that it is affecting your life and your life decisions, then you need to stop drinking.
