Very perceptive and thought evoking question. I have also noticed an increase in the number of "Christians" who are acting more like non-Christians in their responses to questions. We should respond with tact so that the message is received instead of being turned off due to the nature of the response being negative, abusive, and belittling. No one is going to pay any attention to answers that attack them or their beliefs.
As you point out not everyone will receive the message but if just one does that is counted for good. Those that do not have at least been given the correct information and can make their choice objectively(sometimes the choice is made on the way the message is presented). Keep on keeping on we should not give up. We need to support each other and continue to answer questions whether the message is accepted or not. If enough of us keep telling the same story it will eventually reach receptive ears.

I wish more Chrisians thought as you do. I'm not one, but I used to be. I suspect that most of the people that act as you describe are insecure in their faith and feel the need to lash out at others who have other beliefs, similar to the way a playground bully tends to be insecure about himself and thus lashes out at the weaker ones.
The others are either know-it-alls who can't bear to be wrong and were probably taught to rebel loudly against anything that questions their beliefs, and more common, teenagers, who love to put people down for being different.
As I'm sure you've noticed, it's not just a Christian phenomenon. Unfortunately, assholes come in all flavors, and I find the name-calling by atheists and other non-Christians just as abhorrant and infantile as I do in Christians.
May we all find a little more tolerance, and learn to disagree without resorting to hatred.

People love to argue things they don't understand that is why this kind of thing always happen. Either u don't know, not so sure or don't ve the proper knowledge, so don't preach n don't teach it does more harm than good. The best is just keep cool n stay silence. To throw Qs at people or to find answers, learn from the right gurus not just anybody.

You are right.
Often when I see a question that justs wants to argue I click off it.
The Bible speaks against casting our pearls before the swine. People who want to fight will not be convinced. If someone asks a legitimate question I always try to respond in someway.
If we would ignore the fighters and go to those who are wanting to know, the fighters would soon leave. Often when someone wants to fight with me I do not respond and when I do it may be just one time and not back and forth. We should never call names. We should only respond with the Word of God.

There are several reasons for a believer to argue with those who don't.
1. Christians are taught that those who don't will burn forever in hell. This is an incentive for christians to use whatever means necessary to try and convert non-believers. This encourages the use of the stick if the carrot doesn't work.
2. Non-believer are frequently demonized. "atheists are immoral", "atheists cannot be trusted", etc. Non-believers are demonized so that christians will automatically regard their arguments as "evil". This is to avoid christians being deconverted/talked out of their beliefs.
3. Belief in a god frequently stems from emotional reasons. Look how often christians use the words, "feel" & "love". To have someone tell you that your god most likely doesn't exist hits that emotional target and frequently causes anger.
4. A lot of atheists like to argue... and a lot of people can't debate in a civil way.
I'm sure that there are many more.

Hey, I may not belong to a religion (I'm agnostic), but I don't have a problem with people believing what they want. I don't have a problem with them believing in what they perceive to be true. AS LONG as they don't try to force it on me. I think the more people come to accept one another, the better we can make the world.
I think most Christians are really nice people, but some people I've seen seem like they just like to start arguments for the sake of starting them. Reflects badly on people who actually respect others.

The inflated sense of self-entitlement possessed by some Christians seems to have given them notion that the have the one infallible truth. This delusion seems to have given those same Christians the idea that they have some God given right to impose their views on everyone and anyone who disagrees should be dealt with harshly. This is not anything new to Christianity. See the Spanish inquisition for more.

Thank you!
As an atheist, I'm very happy to take a "live and let live" attitude, and I only hope more of the believers in whatever sect would do the same as you. We'll all find out who was right soon enough.

Amen to that...His Way and Bible Believer too...Makes so much sense.
Jesus told us to leave those people who reject what we are saying, and wipe the dust of their home off of our feet...in other words, leave them to their misery, but pray for them. They are rejecting Christ's salvation, and not us personally.
I have many friends who are not Christian. If they ask questions, I am more than happy to share. If I say something related, and they don't want to hear, I stop. Many have asked questions as to my attitude, and faith because of my lifestyle and actions. Praise the Lord!!! Let your fruit show others whom you serve and don't be a stumbling block!

I agree with you 100%. We should not be arguing with anyone. It is so sad to see many "Christians" answer questions in very rude manners. We are not to judge. We are to inform others of our wonderful Saviour. If they accept the accept, if they don't they don't. That is their choice.
