The rules for Y!A are too vague. They can delete a question or answer at any time for any reason, and to date, I've yet to receive a response regarding deletions from Yahoo's *cough* "customer care" department.

NO......Q and A is not discussion. There are chat
sites offered by yahoo for discussion. This is where you ask a Q and receive a A...that isn't chatting. When we use areas designed for one thing for something else, it clogs the system for it's intended purpose. As far as Y having control issues, it is exactly the opposite of what others here are saying...Y is the site originator and this gives them the right to designate how the space be used....People who choose to disregard the intended use, are the ones trying to put their control on the space and use it for their own purpose.
This is like teens who think their parents are being controlling
by setting household rules...the one paying the bills is the one
who has the right to set the rules, and yahoo is in this position.
When you pay the bill to provide a space then you can set the rules..!
This is a fact of life in the real world...and like it or not the ethics we live by.
Try www.paltalk.com (24/7chats many format choices)

Chatting is against the rules because this is a question and answer site - not a chat forum. The reason for coming here is not to discuss things - it's to ask questions and recieve answers. Discussion does not enter into it.

I do not understand why they say chatting is against the rules either. It also seems that there is really no clear definition of what chatting is. Some people will report almost anything as chatting. I recently had a question deleted and I really could not understand why it was deleted.

That is a good question. Honestly I think it's because there are people who feel they have to have control in their lives so the report every little thing they perceive as wrong. These same people live by the rules and there are no exceptions.
I personally come here to discuss things but really the title of the forum tells us otherwise.

Yes. I enjoy seeing things through other eyes but some answers are kinder than others. I also have the feeling that nothing ever really changes as a result of swapping ideas because we hold too tightly to our opinions. It's nice to chat though Lol!

Chatting is against the rules? Really? I don't know that. If it is true, it really defeat the purpose why we are here.

Well, no, not really. You come here to post a question and get answers. It was not intended to be a community or chat room.

No... discussion is not a part of the Q/A format.
Here on Y/A we are kept to asking and answering questions - discussions are for blog pages and chat rooms.
This is my answer to your question and you may accept it or reject it but there will be no "chatting" or discussion over it on this particular site.

Yes to ask questions. I guess they don't want to have people address one person because then it would be personalized?
If you have yahoo messenger you can add people there and chat ...multi-tasking is a hard thing for me lol..
