The USA is a Christian Nation by choice, a simple fact. And Christians are the single most tolerant of all religions. How can you say we aren't?

magill k, just where in this question does it say that I am forcing you to be a Christian?

This observes a simple fact, we are a Christian Nation. That's all. You can be whatever you want to be, that is the best thing about Christianity, we are the most tolerant of any religion. We even allow those that wish to worship Satan, do that.

In modern terms this nation was clearly Christian in it's founding. In the founding fathers day however a Christian nation was defined as a nation that had a national established church. The constitution prevented Congress to circumvent the "no power" over religion directive, thus it left the states to deal with that issue themselves. When the declaration of Independence was signed more then half of the colonies had established churches. Established churches (all were Christian) were not discontinued until after our founding fathers were out of office and dead (1818).

Why should God only bless the day in the USA? is he taking a holiday from the rest of the world?

Great Christian Nation - now, i'm not argumentative, but each one of those terms are HIGHLY debatable.

Christianity and christians are two different things pal. Christians aren't religion... they're splintered into denominations who are usually at each others' throats trying to grab the collection plate dollars from the gullible and the faithful.

Oh man, INDIA is the Great All-Religion Nation. THOUSANDS of Gods [including yours], living, dead, and re-incarnated, and MUCH more in NEED of blessings, now don't you agree?

I'm a christian believer who lives in the USA and I can say that we a definitely not a Christian Nation. If we were then God would be in our schools, abortion would be illegal and marriage among homosexuals wouldn't even be discussed, along with about a thousand other difference and changes.

As much as I do pray for this nation, it's people and leaders the fact is that the USA is very much a secular nation.

sure i do experience born returned, unfortunatly if this became a "super christain u . s .", as you proclaimed then why are uor government. oficials attempting to spred hate for our muslim brothers. if this u . s . have been a brilliant christain u . s . we'd be applying our impression to boost thier circumstances so as that they dont unfold extra hate. you should realy think of approximately what you assert befor you assert it. ask your self this question, might the father aprove of the yank government., and what bush is doing in the midle east? i say no. with that suggested how can this be a rustic under god if we don't persist along with his commandments, does thou shalt no longer kill advise something to human beings, or do they think of it truly is barely a guidance?

I guess you never asked this question to people who are gay. Is your bible tolerant of gay people? Also what does your bible say about other religions? Or those who chose not to follow Jesus? Answer these questions and you will soon figure out that your religion is not as tolerant as you would believe. For the simple fact that no fundamental christians are currently committed horrific terrorists acts you think to yourself that your religion is superior and more tolerant of others, when in fact it is no more tolerant of others than any other religion, including Islam. The bible is one misguided piece of fiction, intolerant to homosexuals, women and other religions and non-believers. Think for yourself and you decide. Think outside of the context of the bible.

LOL Yeah... sure. It's not nor has it ever been.

As Mandy pointed out, with her point of what we would be subjected to, we'd live in the dark ages again. Thank the Gods we aren't a christian nation.

Why are you so obsessed by everything having to be labeled or controlled by christian extremists? Other than the methods used(bombing clinics, killing doctors ) there's not a whole hell of a alot difference between your extreme zealotry and the Taliban.

never watched Jesus camp have you. Ever heard of the Crusades and Spanish Inquisitions? THink that's not representative? How bout this board? People arguing against science, like that's even arguable. The fact that their posts are up is that they have computers or have access to them. And that's science, or did god just magically drop a metal box with tiny little silicone chips fit in a specific order? And goes 01010101

Someone please tell me the significance of this date. After browsing the internet, all I found were that May 23rd was the day Carolus Linnaeus was born (the irony), and that South Carolina became the 8th state of the USA.

Never thought about it that way.....
You're correct in a sense.....

In 1607 (400 years ago this month I believe) when the first Puritans landed on the shores just near Virginia beach, they erected an 8 foot cross and proclaimed this land in the name of Jesus Christ

And we've been blessed & protected ever since.......until 9-11 of course....which I believe was allowed by God to happen as a wake-up call to us
