Because we (collectively, in a mostly-Christian culture) like to think that God is good, and we don't think killing babies, especially in such a painful way, is good. We think it's downright awful. So something downright awful must have happened to make that man do such a thing. *Our* God is a God of mercy, not microwaving babies!
Surviving 40 days in the desert is good. The guy himself doesn't know how he did it--probably he watched a Discovery Channel special or remembered his Boy Scout training or something, which is also a great thing. He's going to be very thankful that he survived. And he'll want to thank somebody or something, and it doesn't occur to most of us to thank ourselves.
And then we take the stories we like and connect them to the ideas we have already and turn them into arguments!

Good question!
In the Old Testament, God had used this very thing as an object lesson, but the father of the child wasn't actually allowed to take his child's life....
In the New Testament, Jesus, the Son, was killed, but, it was by man's hand, and another lesson....of love, forgiveness, etc.,.
So, in the 2 stories you shared, the 1st one was considered of God , and the 2nd one, was considered from the god of deception and lies, satan.

As I understand it, the man who put his baby in the microwave did not claim that God told him to do it. He said he did it to "relieve stress." I have followed the story on the news.

Its says when adam and eve bit the fruit,
they learned the difference between
"good and evil".
It really looks like as time goes on that mankind is knowing more "evil than good"
There has been many cases of men shooting thier whole families then killing themselves and professed they were christians and didnt want them to sin anymore.
You cant blame god for somebody blowing
a fuse when they are the ones actually blaming god.
It just goes to show you that lifes hard on everybody it doesnt descriminate.

Because satan has to imitate everything God does, or at least try to, God does something, & satan comes alone & try something in the name of God fooling people, That is what satan is good at, Fooling people, Just as time. The 7th day God rested, Many looks at this that on Saturday God was so worn out from making the universe, that he just had to sit down one day, That 7th day is a Type & shadow of the milliennium, which is 1000 yrs, & not 24 hours. Therefore since the 7th day which is a type of the milliennium, Then satan comes along & has his own milliennium here on this earth, We call it the dark ages, which started estimated around 500 to 1500 AD,

God sacrificing his "Son" Jesus...
Abraham sacrificing Isaac...
If anything, the second story sounds more in line with the biblical God than the first.

The guy claiming God told him how to find water? I dunno, maybe true, mayhap he was dehydrated and delusional.
The guy saying God said to kill his baby? Delusional, mainly because it doesn't fit in with Scripture.

With all respect:
Your mother tells you that you are her son....you believe it.
The woman who stole and grew you up (not your mother) tells you that you are her son....you belive it.
In normal view, in both cases for you it's your mother talking to you...but all in all only one has your blood.

All of God's thoughts are perfect, spiritual, eternal, good, and harmless, and He sustains everything He creates. Murder comes from the so-called human mind and not God and works evil at every corner. The rest is history.
