We don't have anyone to watch him.

I have people adopt all the time in your situation and I hold them till they get back. Where ever you got the pup should be willing to help. I have a Katrina plott hound from hell that I still watch when they need me too. Several people that have adopted have brought them to me to watch when they are out of town. If they cared about the pup they wil want to be there and make sure everything is taken care of and be involved in the animals life.

Its too young for boarding.

I'm assuming you can't bring puppy with you. And in truth, unless you're going on a family camping trip or have rented a beach house or mountain cabin, I wouldn't recommend it for a number of reasons. Most notably, long car rides and airline travel can be hard on puppies. And you're probably going to want to be on the "go" all day during the trip - so what about puppy?

That means boarding her. An additional cost - but well worth it because puppy will get regular care and attention while you're away.

Ask your vet for the name of a good kennel - some vets also board - excellent time for puppy to get her first shots.

Ask the breeder or shelter where you got puppy if you could board her for the 6 days you're away. If the shelter can't board your pup, perhaps they can recommend a "foster" for just those 6 days - and do make a considerable donation to the shelter (that may be a selling point - We'll donate so much money to your shelter if you'll be kind enough to watch Puppy for these days...)

Now then. What's going to happen the NEXT time you need to be gone and puppy can't go with you?

No kennel will take him in under 16 weeks because he hasn't had his shots, and being in a kennel could kill him. He must come with you. I am assuming there was a death in your family or another emergency because no one would plan to have to take a puppy on a trip! This is going to be very rough on him. If you are flying you need to contact the airline now and make arrangements. Where are you going and when?

Some kennels offer come to your home services, but that will be really expensive as you need someone to come by every 3 hours with a baby this small, and it's very bad for him socially to be alone so long.

Maybe the breeder can watch him while you are gone? Explain the extenuating circumstances and see if you can work out a deal. That's probably the safest place, and if it is a responsable breeder you should have no problems.

Why would you get a 9 WEEK old puppy when you were going to be leaving for 6 days????? Honestly, no common sense. You can't really expect a family member to take your puppy in, the puppy is not yet house trained and you can't expect someone else to do your dirty work. I would NEVER kennel a baby!!!! You need to cancel your trip or take it with you. UHhhhh......

You should of thought about having to leave on your trip before you got your puppy!!!!

Any change in your puppy's routine now will only confuse the poor thing!!!! He is trying to get use to his new home !!!!

It sounds like you are going to have to take your puppy with you!!! This can be a very stressful time for your puppy though!!!!

No day care center will take your puppy since he hasn't been neutered and if he hasn't had all his shots!!! Plus no telling what kind of condition you will find your puppy in when you get back from your trip?? If you would be lucky to find a day care center please make sure it is a good one!!! That they will take him out for walks and will be well supervised!!!

You are really going to confuse this poor thing!! You just got him Saturday and you have to already go off and leave him!!!!!! You should have already been working on the house training thing!!! I do hope he is a house dog!!!
Dogs are social and want to be a part of the family and that does not mean stuck outside!!!!

Your puppy though is way to young to be taken on a trip. He could get car sick, have loose stools and even get sick at his stomach. As I said any change in a puppy's habits can really get their systems all messed up!!!

See if where you got him from will take him for those days your are to be gone!!!

Good Luck!!!!!

P.S. I have always taken our dogs with us on our trips or had our dog sitter come in and check on them many times a day. They were much older dogs also!! But with a puppy you just can't leave then by themselves. A puppy can't spend all day and night in a dog kennel or crate!!!
With our puppy now we have taken her with us but we have bought a large dog kennel to put in our van. The kennel is big enough for her bed and room for her to move around in. The kennel is the kind you can fold up when not in use. But as I said having a puppy on a trip can cause so many problems!! With it being the start of summer you can't leave the puppy in the car!!! Puppies need to be supervised at all times!!!!

Find a kennel, bring him along, or let a friend or family watch him. Personally, I would let a friend babysit him cause then I would know he's getting the best care possible and a kennel full of other dogs may stress out a puppy that young.

You need to take him with you. You should never leave a pup within the first few weeks of getting them. He's too young to board. No kennel will take him because he has not had all of his shots and of course you can;t leave him alone.

If it's totally impossible to take him see if a family member will look after him or don't go. I had the same situation last year when I got my 3rd Chihuahua. I just canceled my trip because he came first and I could not take him. It cost me a fair bit of money, but there was no other way. I was not supposed to get him until after my trip, but his breeder became very ill.

I know this sounds odd,but puppies can develop abandonment issues. I know this from personal experience. I would either take the puppy with you,or have a friend or family member watch it for you. He/She is just getting used to its surroundings, and its new family. If there is no one to help you I would seriously consider putting the money out for a kennel to care for your puppy while your away! Good luck!

You will either have to take your pup with you, find a friend or family member to take him or see if the vet will board your pup for those 6 days. Most vets will not board until the dog has all it's shots. But here is always that chance they will take it since it is young. There are private boarding facilities you can also try.

DO NOT leave it alone.

Maybe you should have waited to get your new pup until after you returned from your trip.

Check and see if there are any vets in your area that offer boarding. You might also look in the yellow pages for dog boarding or kennels, but I think most kennels are not going to take pups that young since he has not been fully immunized.
Is it possible to have the breeder watch him for you while you are gone? At least he would be in familiar surroundings.
