When the State, or Government, over steps its boundary in my personal choice, practice and expressions of religion, the two meet, and then the state must take a backroad, for it is one of the supreme foundations of law in the US of A. When the two meet, Church (practice of religion) must prevail by law.

Although, it doesn't seem that the Courts would agree.

I think Church meets State somewhere around the wallet of State. The Church isn't taxed because it "donates" so much to political agendas and campaigns.

Jesus was asked much the same question by the clergy of his day trying to trick him. He asked for a coin and asked who's face was on it. Cesar's. Then he said, "Give Cesar's things to Cesar; but God's things to God." Meaning to observe all laws of the land (taxes, traffic laws,etc.) until it comes into conflict with God's laws, which are higher than man's.--Mark 12:13-17
That is where Church vs, State meet.

There should be always be separation of powers or there will be a religious state of affairs where there is no democracy.

The State would go back in time too the inquisitions, where they will burn them all at the stake who do not conform.
