My friend has a valid passport but his I-94 and US visa is already expired. Can he travel within USA? Does the domestic airport/airline can check his out of status in US when checking-in ?and can he be possibly deported to his place of origin?

They don't and to travel within the environs of the US, you still don't need a passport. This is only in the case of students, who WILL need to have their passports with them. It is necessary if you are traveling outside of the US.

He is removable, so any proximaty to enforcement poses some risk of detection, however, passports are not required for domestic travel and there is no immigration inspection process. He'll need an id to get through security.

hmm... as far as airports are concerned, they will check passport, but i´m not sure if they´ll look for a visa, just to see if the name and plane ticket match...

there is no border control once you are inside the us, so you can travel all over the country by car, bus, train, etc...

might be too risky to do the plane thing, stick to the bus or a car, or train.

Your friend is illegal, and had a visa. Just great. They had time to do it right and did not. It is on them. Let it go. Responsibility is responsibility. He or she will eventually commit another crime and ultimately be deported. If you are a legal citizen, have your friend report to the proper authorities to go home and come back the right way.

He needs to go home.

How would you feel if your friend bombed something or committed a crime and YOU could have prevented it my helping him do the right thing
or TURNING him in?

How would you like to be charged with accessory to murder? or worse.
