Where are people getting these statistics from? :-/ 70%?! 50%!?

English: 17,521,880 (59.1%)
French 6,782,320 (22.9%)
Other: 5,334,770 (18.0%)

English: 20,011,535 (67.5%)
French 6,288,425 (21.2%)
Other: 3,096,110 (10.5%)

Canada - 17.7%
Quebec - 40.8%
Canada less Quebec - 10.3%
New Brunswick - 34.2%
Ontario - 11.7%
British Columbia - 7.0%

Quebec is the main area where people will still speak French. Most signs will be in both languges (english and french). If your traveling there you shouldnt have a problem since everyone is taught both as well. The farther west you go the less French is spoken and all the signs will be in English.

About 25% of Canadians have French as their first language. Another 30% or so can carry on a conversation in French.

Canada use to be a french colony but today, almost 70% canadains still speak french.
