Because after 4 years of war, all the people with education, experience, capital, and anything left to lose have fled the country (over 2 million). Those that are left never had anything to lose so have no reason to make nice with their neighbors. Add to that the outsiders trying to advance their own agenda in the vacuum that was created.

It is a sorry, sorry mess and we had a primary hand in creating it.

What is needed is an iron hand of security that will provide some reasonable amount of safety to allow the movers and shakers that fled the country to return to Iraq and get to work.

Unfortunately if we (the US) were to attempt to provide that level of security we would need 200,000 more soldiers and would just attract more and more bomb makers. The needed security is going to have to come from somewhere else - the neighboring states or anyone who is not the US or seen as a puppet of the US.

In the end, the Iraqis themselves are going to have to want the peace and do what is needed to achieve it. We should help - but in a way that does not make things worse.

Because the Sunni and Shiite tribes are still living in the past and fighting over things their ancestors did hundreds of years ago instead of forgeting the past and getting on with life. They should be more concerned with the future of their civilization. They are all cousins and must figure out how to stop following their religious leaders who thrive from spreading hate and vengeance.

since time began, there has been no peace in the middle east . there never will be because of the religious attitudes each wants control and will kill willingly any that oppose them. to classify these people as idiots would be a compliment. how many other nations would use children as suicide bombers?

its a controversial issue regarding the war and violence in iraq.there can be peace if other countries stop their interference regarding their government and political issues.the irqi government is unable to cope with continuous tragedies of blasts and everything and it is making the country lag behind but it surely can acheive what others have.
